It would be a great idea if the money were there. However, the website says it has been unfunded since 2004. Please, Maryland, don't dangle the treat if you're not going to give it to us!
Unfortunately, it will take a couple of more pedestrian accidents involving UMES students or residents of the apartment complexes before it becomes a reality. Since Princess Anne was able to zone in the area along MD 822, the Somerset Commons apartments north of 822 and the new shopping center, shoudn't they be at least partially responsible for continuing the sidewalks from on spot zone to the next. They are benfiting from the additional taxes. I thought it was funny, they could rebuild existing sidewalks on Mt. Vernon Rd, but could not put them in where they are desperately needed. Then, once there, it would be nice if the pedestrians would actually use them.

That's a very good idea. A round about would be an excellent solution to that intersection.
