Gas Prices Continue To Rise As The Cost Of Crude Goes Up

Historic highs for gas prices in January and costs are inching up in Delaware.

Usually January is a time for gas lows but the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular in Delaware is up 6 cents from last week to $3.45. That's 33 cents higher than the cost this time last year.

Man, if only we had the opportunity to buy oil more cheaply from Canada and get it from Canada to Houston. It would be great because it would mean more jobs for thousands of people in the mid-west, could impact our political stance in the world in the sense that we had another source of oil close to home, and we would be be strengthening a trade relationship with our closest ally and strongest trading partner. Man, if only there was that opportunity people could get back to work, gas prices would go down, and our future would be a little more secure.

Who knows, maybe someday we will have that chance! I'm sure that anyone who cares about our country would love to have the abiltity to implement such a "pipe dream". (I couldn't resist.) If only we had that chance, it would help our country out in so many ways, and I am sure that our President would support a measure that would help with energy costs and jobs. Oh wait, who's President again? Oh well, at least we'll have food stamps.

Interesting in that I just filled up my tank in New Jersey for $3.299 per gallon. A full 15 cents per gallon LESS than they are charging on Delmarva!

How can they do that, considering they have to dispense it full-service?

Gas prices rose 10 cents last week, after a report that oil was LESS THAN $100.00 a barrel!
Makes NO sense!
