A cop assigned to the Upper West Side is claiming he suffered retaliation for not writing enough summonses and doing too few stop-and-frisks under a quota system the NYPD insists doesn’t exist.
Officer Rajinder Singh reported he was yanked from his regular patrol duties, assigned to lone foot posts in other commands, and ordered to “transport a hostile prisoner without leg restraints,” all because he cop came up short.
With the PBA on his side, Singh has filed a grievance against the NYPD that the Board of Collective Bargaining on Dec. 20 ruled is subject to arbitration, overriding objections from the city.

funny how the cops don't ever want to admit that they don't have a quota. Only way to get promoted! My advice is to file a grievance against any and every cop who stops you. Once they get that letter stuck in their file won't matter how many tickets they write. They will be passed over for promotion. Maybe then they'll stop the foolishness!
All cops have to keep up with the biggest gung-ho ticket writer in their particular unit. Or have to explain why "John" writes 300 tickets a month, but you only write 70. What? You aren't up to the job? Not looking for violations? THAT'S the "quota" system, but they CAN honestly say that there is no quota system. But you'd BETTER write tickets and stop and search innocent people or YOU will be on the other side of the search.....
I love reading comments from all the knowledgeable experts on here that don't know what they are talking about. File all the complaints you want. #1. A majority of traffic stops and citizen/officer encounters are recorded, and after your complaint is found to be frivilous or untrue you will be exposed as the liar that you truly are. You could also be setting yourself up for a nice civil suit. #2. Cops can't search somebody without probable cause or consent or a warrant. For example you get stopped for speeding. If the officer sees or hears something that makes him/her feel as if your are concealing/transporting illegal drugs he/she can request a K9 scan (if they are available) of the vehicle. If the K9 alerts on your vehicle for the odor of narcotics the officer has probable cause to search your vehicle and you. It could be prescrition pain killers that the dog smells but he's still got PC to search. If he sees a weapon or a portion of a weapon it could be PC to search the vehicle. The other way to do a search is a consent search. Once the traffic stop is complete he may ask for permission to search the vehicle and you. You can say no and he/she can't do anything about it. You can say yes and change your mind two minutes into the search, unless he has developed PC to continue the search. No officer that I know of is out here randomly stopping and searching vehicles without reason. If there is such an officer it will catch up to him and he will be found out eventually and hopefully fired.
I've made the suggestion several times that you all request to do a ride along with your local agency. Instead of just sitting behind yor keyboard making up lies, come out here and ride with us. See what we really do and then come back here and tell the truth.
