Mom Denied Food Stamps Shoots Kids, Kills Self

(AP) SAN ANTONIO - A Texas woman who for months was unable to qualify for food stamps pulled a gun in a state welfare office and held a seven-hour standoff with police that ended with her shooting her two children before killing herself, officials said Tuesday.

The 10-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl remained in critical condition Tuesday. Authorities identified the mother as Rachelle Grimmer, 38, and children Ramie and Timothy.

And hopefully take people like you with them.

12:53 I agree with you for sure what a arrogant SOB 12:28 is.

@12:28 - Not every person that gets assistance is a moocher, or lazy. I do not like excessive aid programs. There is certainly some fraud in every one of those programs.
However, it is sick for you to be happy that this woman killed herself and shot two innocent children, who, if they survive, will have to live with the knowledge that their own mother shot them.
You will never see it, never acknowledge it, because you are obviously too simple, but you are a fool. It is your misdirected hate and foolish judgement that this world would be better off without.
After reading this you will get mad at me, puff out your chest and rant about how right you are nad how you live a perfect life. But one day, in a rare moment of lucidity you will realize that you really aren't crap.

Let me tell you 12:28. I have worked with indigent people for many years. I remember when Dresser Wayne closed. Not one of those people every thought they would need help. You just never know when it could be you. 12:28, you may not be indigent but you sure are ignorant. Do you not even have feelings for those poor children? I don’t wish harm on anyone but I hope that, just for a little while, you are in need. I hope that if/when you do that you are treated with dignity and respect. There is some fraud and I hope that it is your exact money that goes to the lazy ones. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

12:28, you make me sick. This is a tragedy regardless of the story behind food stamps. She could have been a moocher, or she could have been a single mom who lost her job and fed an abusive husband for all you know.

But either way, to rejoice in her death and at the serious wounding of two children is one of the vilest things I have ever read in my life!

and yes, ive worked with the "underprivileged" too. your consequences often follow stupid decisions.

What a nightmare....for anyone who has never had the misfortune of applying for assistance, they make it next to impossible to qualify.Someone should have reached out to this woman before she lost it and did this to her kids.

12:28 Bet you call yourself a Christian too.

In our own backyards we have people working full time jobs with billion dollar corporations that qualify for welfare benefits and are getting them and you the taxpayers are paying for it. Take Walmart and Perdue for instance. Not only that but the subsidies that these company receive are another type of welfare which comes out of the taxpayers pocket. If you wanted to build a store see if the government would provide service roads, etc for you. Same with if you wanted to open a fertilizer plant see if the government would give you a couple of million bucks. No one complains because we are brainwashed into thinking jobs jobs jobs but then when over 70% of the jobs created, pay such low wages that the employee is eligible for govenment entitlements is it really worth it? That's where most of the welfare money goes contrary to popular belief that it's lazy people who are not interested in working. Wake up!

12:28, the children were the innocent victims in this. They didn't asked to be brought into this world. Shame on you for your comment. Maybe you will have a chance to discuss your views with the mother when you end up in Hell with her.

Yes this was a terrible thing. But you can blame Obama and our government for the tragedy. They want everyone to depend on the government for everything. So when you get turned away they can't see any other way to exist after all they have always depended on the government so I guess there is nothing I can do (like get a job or work for it). I might as well give up and kill myself and kids too. Because I can't survive without my government. Thanks Obama.

There is a thing called free speech and free will, which I wholeheartedly agree with.

Having said that, it is your right to say whatever you like, within reason.

Even your first and subsequent messages, which myself and others have condemned, is, I suppose protected speech.

However, if you really believe what you have posted, and not just bored and trolling, I pity you.

I'm sure you don't care and that's fine.

I believe everyone has to answer for everything they do eventually.

I just want to point out we, and that includes me, need to think about some of the things we say and do and how it affects others.

That said, Merry Christmas to all.

And I just read one of the children has died.

That should make your day 12:28.

One less to mooch off your tax dollars, if you have a job.

Isn't it funny how people are all upset about people on welfare and food stamps but don't give a rat's butt about corporate welfare?
