It's not new technology. The 1800's had the first electric car. And it hasn't been improved upon since then. Different batteries is about all that changed.
It also has a 5-star rating from the gubnut safety agency. And the company itself will loan you a car or even buy the volt back if you're that concerned.
5:05 Maybe you should check the statistics. There have been very few volts sold yet three fires, and numerous house fires from charging the volt. 12:04 Yes the government that is running GM gave them a five star rating. No conflict of interest there. I wouldn't own another GM vehicle if thay gave it to me!
Gee maybe if GM's EV-1 was put out for sale to the puplic like it was supposed to be years ago GM would have a better electric car product trend to go by instead of crushing them all like they did! Now all they have is the volt they are trying to shove down our throat. It's ok, they are a "too big to fail" company so they will get another bailout.

This is all hype. The Volt is very safe... Check the statistics. Fear of new technology is fueling this.
