Salisbury Police Department Press Releases 11-14-11

On November 11, 2011 at approximately 8:55 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department Safe Streets Unit were on routine patrol in the area of Smith Street and Newton Street and observed several subjects walking in the roadway and impeding traffic. The officers approached the suspects for contact and the below listed suspect fled on foot southbound on Smith Street.

The officers pursued the suspect through a number of yards and over several fences. Several of the yards that the suspect ran through had been posted against trespassing. During the pursuit, the officers observed the suspect discard an item beneath of a parked vehicle and soon thereafter caught and took the suspect into custody. The discarded item was recovered and was found to be a loaded .22 caliber revolver type handgun. The suspect’s age prohibits his possession of firearms and due to the seriousness of the charges the suspect was charged as an adult.

On November 12, 2011 at approximately 4:08 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to a residence on Marley Manor Drive for the report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival the officers met with an adult female victim who stated that she had been assaulted during a verbal argument with the below listed suspect, who was known to her, that resulted in the suspect striking her in the chest and choking her. The suspect then locked her in a bedroom.

The victim was able to escape out of a window and ran to a neighbor’s residence to contact the police. The suspect took the victim’s vehicle and left the area. Salisbury officers located the vehicle and took the suspect into custody. During the investigation the victim disclosed that she had also been assaulted by the suspect on the previous date. The victim advised that on the day before the suspect had held her against a wall and had attempted to stab her in the leg with a kitchen knife. The suspect is a juvenile but due to the seriousness of the assault was charged as an adult.
