Twisted Government Accounting Behind Postal Service Woes

You might have heard that the United States Postal Service is in trouble: that it's losing billions, that it will have to end Saturday service and close branches — and most inflammatory, that it might need a government bailout. Perhaps you heard that the Postal Service couldn't pay $5.5 billion bill that came due Sept. 30 and that only an emergency postponement saved it from the government's equivalent of default.

In fact, it's the Postal Service that’s currently bailing out the U.S. government. Politicians have been raiding Postal Service revenues for years, using them to make the federal deficit appear smaller than it really is. The fiscal gyrations are so twisted that the Postal Service is right now forced to pre-pay health care benefits for employees the agency hasn't even hired yet — in fact, for many future employees who haven't even been born yet — all to artificially shrink the federal deficit.

It's these crushing accounting tricks, not the cost of delivering mail, that has pushed this 200-year-old institution to the brink.

Welcome to the wacky world of Washington, D.C., accounting.

First, let me say this...

DUH

This has happened before and it will happen again because people are so stupid that they think the inevitable of re-iterating history won't and/or can't happen...

Everyone wonders what happen to civilizations before us, and to tell you the truth, they died and destroyed itself just as we are doing and going to do...

The govt gets to big and it will crumble period, not if but when... we have 200 years or more of data to prove this...

Not to mention the govt does this, and also makes things seem not to work because they don't... Meaning they make things not work to give you the perception that it doesn't work and you need to fix it and how can you fix it? with money? that's right, they want money... Just like all these lost jobs, they are making them go away because they want the public sector which is the govt to stay around and be needed because if they aren't needed then there wouldn't be a big govt or a govt at all...

If you want a reality check, I suggest you watch the move "postman" with Keven Costner... That will be what happens to us if and or when the govt fails...

The proof is from the Myans, Romans, and every culture of people in between...

Another DUH!!
Our good ole non-productive government .
The Postal Service is sick , let it die in piece and let it go!

Like other institutions , let ups and fed-ex and who ever pick up the slack , we are still a capitalistic nation.

These people don't deserve anything , they are by far the most liberal and nonconforming
idiots alive.
