Court of Appeals will weigh whether beach should remain available to the public
Lisa Bender spent her summers in the 1960s sailing to Dobbins Island in the Magothy River for some summer fun."You'd picnic, meet people and swim," the Severna Park woman said of her trips to a beach that she and many others considered to be a public place. In the 1990s, she began taking the next generation of her family there.
Then David and Diana Clickner bought the 7-acre island in 2004, with plans to make it their family home. They have no interest in hosting a summerlong party or in sharing the beach with uninvited strangers who often leave their trash behind. So in 2006, the Clickners erected a fence to mark their private property.

I spent many a weekend on dobbins island prior to it being sold I am also familier with Ms. Bender she is a hard left enviornmentalist her husband an I started the Magothy River Land Trust. Get over it private property is private. If you wanted to use it you should have bought it yourself.
The problem is not just the beach it the whole island. First its the beach they land on then next they think they have free roam of the island. Its no different than someone parking an RV in your driveway and spending the weekend as an uninvited guest. But I'm quite sure these tree hugger's backing the suit would have a problem with that. If the dirty rotten nasty bastards using the beach cleaned up behind their selves might not be as much of an issue. The folks bought the island fare and square they should be able to protect their asset. This is another case where our government has failed to protect a property owner AGAIN!
I can't believe they even they had the nerve to take the owners of the island to court without even a hint of embarrasment. They come across as a bunch of freeloaders wanting something they haven't paid for. What a bunch of mooches.
