I support 100% the idea that everyone pay their fair share.. the Buffetites already pay the highest percentage. The debt and the economy issues would all be solved if everybody - including the 53% that pay nothing - paid the same percent they do on all income - including the value of handouts.

Not at all. There is no 'fair' about it.

Yes!!! Sounds like a great start!!

no , I don't support anything about Obama. He has lied about thing he has done or going to do.
Wake America , go dirctly to the store and arm yourself. Poo-poo will fly soon.

YES!!!! Adjust your means! It is grossly unfair that a multimillionaire pays a lower percentage in taxes than his secretary. Anyone who cannot see that is either a supreme fool or is rich themselves and do not want to let a penny go.

11:13, that statement has been proven to be highly inaccurate. Big surprise......they lied. those making above $250k per year, have earned it. Why should they give up more? they already do. How much do you expect them to have to give up? Fair would be putting in a flat tax for everyone. That way, no one can escape the minimum tax percentage by lowering their effective tax rate with deductions. But, the hard part about that is that EVERYONE will be expected to pay taxes. That's certainly not the case now as only 43% of americans pay taxes and of that, the top earners pay 80% of the tax burden. READ UP AND GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR BACKSIDES TO LEARN THE TRUTH!

I think it's disgusting people vote themselves other peoples money. What country is this?

Unfortunately even if we tax the rich more it's not enough to get us out of the hole we are in now.

We may need to return to the tax rates during the Clinton era, while keeping local governments in check with what they have and no more.

Pass a balanced budget admendment, keep our nose out of other countries affairs unless their intentions are to attack us.

We also need to curb contributions to third world countries, not only can we not police the world, we can't afford to be nanny to the world either. We have our own disasters here and people with needs.

Seems to me that Maryland tried to do the Millionaires Tax at one time and magically the number of millionaires in the state decrease dramatically! They'll never learn!

No. If the govt. confiscated 100% of the 400 richest Americans' total wealth, it would be enough to run our bloated, out of control govt. for 18 days. Lower the rates across the board. Eliminate all deductions and loopholes, and our economy would catch fire.

This is so predictable. Every time the Obama's go on another Martha Vineyards vacation, they need to collect more tax revenue to pay for it.

Get over it!

Warren Buffet should pay the billion dollars he owes in back taxes before he calls for a tax raise.

No you will destroy the capital markets! Also I intend to avoid doing any business with BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY related companies which includes GEICO.

Wow , here we go again , obama screwing this country any way he can. God help us , impeach that SOB.

Anonymous said...

No.

the problem is what all of the wealth-envy afflicted whiners that are whipped into a frenzy over obama's verbal diarrhea fail to realize about the class warfare the president is attempting to incite: the one thing that almost all of the "wealthy" that obama wants to soak with new taxes have in common is that they are employers. they own companies. they provide jobs. they pay us for the work we do for them. when the government raises their taxes, they don't invest as much, they lay people off. the "wealthy" are your bosses, the people that own the companies YOU work for. would you actively undermine the business that the company you work for does? if the company you work for goes out of business, you lose your job. you should be doing all you can to make them successful, not tear them down. the wealthier they are the more they'll invest and hire. be a part of the solution, not the problem.

11:13 has bought into the Obama BS...Buffet derives his income from dividends ,which have already been taxed at the hoighedt corporate rate, and also on capital gains on investments....once again those investments were made with after tax dollars. Buffet is being intellectually dishonest when he makes his "secretary" comment....but he knows that toomany Americans are gullible enough to buy it and that the far left is so totally dishonest in thier rhetoric that they will ignore the lie.

The top 25% of American wage earners pay 86% of the Federal tax burden..51% of American wage earners pay no Federal taxes at all..when is enough enough lefties?

to anon 11:17 AM,

So your saying, its OK for people who make over 250k a year to pay less in taxes to keep getting rich, while the ones who make 50k or less keep losing money and pay more taxes?

Your mind is warped... The middle class to date pays about 40% of their pay into the tax system...
The rich you speak of, pay between 15% up to date 20% or 23%... Not to mention there is only 2% of the nation who is rich... the rest lye in the middle class...

So your saying, it is fair that the poor get poorer and the rich get richer and the middle class pay half the nations taxes? no that's not fair...

We bailed the rich out to stay rich or to get more rich... With that said, they can AFFORD to pay a few more dollars to help out... In fact as they got richer, you still don't see them loaning to people nor do you hear or see any rich person offering up their money PERIOD...

FAIR TAX NEEDED said...

No, institute a 10 percent fair tax that everyone pays as well as those on the Welfare roles and food stamp projects.

1:49, they don't pay less in taxes, they pay more. Look it up. They are lying to you to get your support. Plain and simple. Read comment from 1:38. Then look up and read the latest articles on the accuracy of Buffett and Obama's statements about the rich paying less in taxes. The more you make, the more you're taxed. Period. I'm not warped, you're gullible.

You people are just stupid. One says 53% don't pay any taxes. Another says 43% don't pay any taxes. Then a couple other idiots want to tax the lazy asses on welfare.

You are just being mind screwed.

It wouldn't matter if you had a flat rate of 50% of everyone's income if spending did not drop.

It's just a ploy to get more money coming in to the coffers.

Do you really think they are going to reduce spending?

They are just trotting this out there to fool you into giving more of your income to them. And it looks like it is working.

This country's debt won't be paid off in any of your lifetimes, or your grand kids.

Keep on chasing your tail.

P.S.: The true fact — about half of Americans do not pay federal income taxes – often gets transmogrified in public discourse into the decidedly untrue claim that half of Americans pay no taxes. That simply isn’t so. There are many other taxes in our fair land, including payroll taxes, excise taxes, sales taxes, state income taxes, and property taxes. Most people who don’t pay federal income taxes still encounter some of these other taxes.

The number one reason should come as no surprise. It’s because they have low incomes. As my colleague Bob Williams notes:

A couple with two children earning less than $26,400 will pay no federal income tax this year because their $11,600 standard deduction and four exemptions of $3,700 each reduce their taxable income to zero. The basic structure of the income tax simply exempts subsistence levels of income from tax.

Low incomes (or, if you prefer, the standard deduction and personal exemptions) account for fully half of the people who pay no federal income tax.

The second reason is that for many senior citizens, Social Security benefits are exempt from federal income taxes. That accounts for about 22% of the people who pay no federal income tax.

The third reason is that America uses the tax code to provide benefits to low-income families, particularly those with children. Taken together, the earned income tax credit, the child credit, and the childcare credit account for about 15% of the people who pay no federal income tax.

Taken together, those three factors — incomes that fall below the standard deduction and personal exemptions; the exemption for most Social Security benefits; and tax benefits aimed at low-income families and children — account for almost 90% of the Americans who pay no federal income tax.

I apologize for the derogatory term,'stupid'. It just amazes me how gullible some of you are and have no common sense.
