REHOBOTH BEACH — A nearly two-hour power outage along the Route 1 corridor between Rehoboth Beach and Lewes Aug. 8 was caused by a squirrel.
According to Delmarva Power spokesman Matt Likovich, a squirrel scurried its way into a substation and tripped the breaker for two circuits.
"It's not common, but it happens," he said. "Squirrels, snakes get curious, and boom! It's not always our fault. When it does happen, it creates an inconvenience for customers."
