Taking Flight

While the C-5 was turning over its engines, a female crewman gave the G.I.s on board the usual information regarding seat belts, emergency exits, etc.

Finally, she said, 'Now sit back and enjoy your trip while your captain, Judith Campbell, and crew take you safely to Afghanistan '

An old MSgt. sitting in the eighth row thought to himself, 'Did I hear her right? Is the captain a woman? '

When the attendant came by he said 'Did I understand you right? Is the captain a woman?'
'Yes,'! said the attendant, 'In fact, this entire crew is female.'

the genders have switched places!
that's why it's no longer called a cockpit! and stewardess's are now called flight attendants.

as I heard it the old sarge mumbled something disparaging to the attendant.

She replied "that's another thing. We no longer call it a cockpit".

An "old" MSgt (E7/E8) depending on service, would most likely have joined the service in the early 90's... Well after women had been given critical jobs in the military. Think this story was just fabricated to show off the planning done by some mission planner in the squadron's Ready Room to put all his female aircrew on the same flight... Well it paid off, apparently it's national news...

I thought the Air Force retired the C-5 a couple years ago and replaced them with a new plane?and who cares who flys them as long as they dont fall out of the sky when I go under them on RT1.

Sorry, Joe, but you've been duped. Look behind the crew and you see electromechanical instruments. The C-5 flight deck was updated to glass cockpits years ago. This picture is at least 7 yrs old, probably more.

Photo is definately dated and not recent. The C-5 flight crew was cut down to 3 about 10 years ago, due to advancements in technology.
