Recycling in Salisbury

We’re constantly told that we need to recycle. Mr. Trader is always getting up at the Salisbury City Council meetings and discussing it. One of the ladies from my church is on the city’s re-cycling committee and has even gotten me to give it a go (my current cartage vendor actually offers re-cycling).

This is why I was saddened by an email from one of our readers. She enclosed some photos of the re-cycling station at the north Wal-Mart:

To be fair, I don’t know when the city picks up from these stations. I also don’t know what is “normal” for this site. However, if this is a regular occurrence it makes it a little difficult for people to do what their local government is asking of them.

The problem is that they have eliminated many locations like the one across from Perdue. They are being overloaded because of the reduction of recycling stations

The City doesn't pick up from this site at all. It's a COUNTY recycling bin.

There is a phone number to call if the box is full right on the side. If the first person who had to set the stuff on the ground did that they are pretty good about coming to take care of it. There are two other locations within 2 miles of this one, just go there after you call so the stuff is not blowing everywhere.

I agree with 9:51. why even drop stuff there if already full?

The one in Delmar looks like this a lot.

This is what you are going to get for having the low taxes you want. You can't expect high levels of service and low taxes. Besides, 9:51 is correct, do your part and call the number on the container. Don't add to the problem by dumping the crap all over the ground. For all I know, it could have been some business that took truck loads over all at once.

To be fair - gather the facts, than write the article.
