Make Your Own Frappuccino

If you've ever tried to come up with your own version of the Starbucks Frappuccino at home, you may have run into this problem. It separates. That lovely smooth texture and consistency you enjoy at the Sbux emporium just seems unobtainable on your own. But it turns out the secret is a simple and cheap ingredient you can find next to the flour in the supermarket: xanthan gum!

Squawkfox figured it out just by asking her local barista what the magic ingredient was. Well that was easy! Pectin works too. She also came up with her own tasty recipe for whipping up a frapp in your kitchen that she swears tastes just like the real thing, but instead of paying nearly $4, each "tall" only sets you back $.32.

And for another variation on this DIY cool treat, here's how to make your own frappuccino on a stick.
