At today's budget worksession it appears that a 4-member majority - Bartkovich, Matt Holloway, Bob Caldwell and Sheree Sample-Hughes - will support Rick Pollitt's 11th hour plan to increase his office staff by adding two new positions, which involves maintaining the current funding for that part of the budget. Joe Holloway, Stevie Prettyman and Bob Culver expressed concern and opposition to maintaining the funding in light of the retirement of Ted Shea, whose retirement pay will be almost as much as his current 6-figure salary. Apparently, the pay grades for the new employees and for Shea's successor as the County Administrator are still unknown (at least to the Council). Also apparently unknown is the salary for the upgrade to the position of the 'public information officer," which will be renamed as well. None of these matters are mentioned in the budget initially proposed by Pollitt in April.

First of all, Gail stated yesterday she would NOT support this and then held a special private meeting with Rick and changed her mind.
She's flip flopped and can no longer be trusted by us taxpayers. I'm personally done supporting her.
As for the Tea Party and big mouth Julie Brewington's group, they're ALL full of crap. They pick and choose hot topics but are nowhere to be found when the stuff hits the fan.
Once again the taxpayers are screwed, yet Gail has left herself an OUT, should the citizens break out in anger. How convenient.
Looks like we elected more than 1 RINO last year.
We need another government executive in the county like we need another WWTP debacle in the city. This is one of those things that I will remember at election time.

It looks like things are just as bad as when McCain, MacLeod and Cannon were on the Council. Please don't say that elections mean something after this absurdity.
He has effectively given us, the taxpayers and constituents, the finger. I believe this was done in vindictiveness and spite for a couple reasons (3).
1. tax cap
2. Bennett
3. Outcry over extra pork in his staff before this happened.

Thought more of Gail than what she did here. This turns my trust around dramatically. I wanted to run against her but did not for 2 reasons, 1) I trusted her judgement before now and 2) I don't have her money. Makes me wonder now if I should try next time.
Spend spend spend when are the good people of this county going to get out of this mess?
Not until we get some real leaders that stick to their word and hold themselves accountable to the taxpayer.
Now we can surely blame Pollitt for this mess along with council members who think they have an open checkbook to do as they damn well please.

We need to eliminate the Executive job in the next election because we could end up with an absolute idiot like this one again. I am disappointed that the Council gave it to him too!! Why do they bend over backwards for this moran??? I hope someone has a grassroots meeting outside the GOB at a time where people can come so these @##%^ will know what we think. how much do you want to bet jobs grade are UPgraded (especially for the PIO position) and people will make MORE money? Why is the idiot PIO able to go straight into the position? I'll say it again. His job should be ELIMINATED! A new job can be posted and a person (not PIO because he isn't qualified for the job he's doing now) will be selected from those who post for it. Why do current people who are underperforming automatically get bigger jobs? How will this make those who report to them feel? O I get furloughed while doing a great job and my boss who's a clown, gets a promotion!!! Pollitt you are so stupid! And, so are the people who voted for him. maybe they heard more than what was published on this blog, and felt that it made sense. That is why there are 7 people on the council, so you can have a majority vote on a decision. That is what we had before lots of you voted for a county executive form of government. Don't be mad at the council for their vote. Look how the majority of taxpayers voted when the executive form was approved. I told you so.
