No, I quit watching a few years ago. She seemed to keep having celebrity guests on instead of the good everyday people with stories to tell. I don't give much thought about celebrities stories.

She is to be commended for all the people she has reached out to help.
She represents what & how Americans should live with their fellow man. Not the Greediness & Self-Serving antics that are so prominent in todays Societies.

Yes, she generates tons of "commerce". Her money comes from advertising= convincing people to buy stuff they don't need. She's a hero to all those women sitting home on their Welfare Collecting backsides. What has she done to improve their lives? She's just another means to pacify the slugs. Maybe if she told them to turn off the TV and get a job, I might respect her.
Oprah is an amazing woman! Don't think for one second that she is going to disappear from the radar. There are bigger aspirations in store I am sure of it.
Will I miss the show? Absolutely NOT! Oprah is a good actress, however she never gave out of her own pocket. Her advertisers did the giving, not her. Her show was the vehicle to get their names out there!

I'm a guy--and. yes, guys do (or I should say did) watch Oprah. 12;33 best captured my feelings about her. She has done an inordinate amount of good for this country. I guess her lasting legacy will be her inculcating into so may people's minds, and certainly by her own example, that one may achieve anything he or she really desires. She made many people believe in themselves. Was she perfect? No, of course not. She did go overboard with celebraties as her guests, as 11:54 points out. But I really don't think there will be another like her.

The question of how she makes money was a rhetorical one. I was referring to my original point that she makes money from advertising.
I keep making points and you're using red herring techniques to try to get off topic. There's only one reason you do this and I forgive you because you learned it from the party you so dearly believe in. They and Oprah throw you scraps from the table and you become an obedient little dog.

It would take me a very long time to explain, but I'll sum up and say that the goal of advertising, in most cases, is to attempt to get you to buy things that you do not need.
I don't mean to single out Oprah, but she appeals to those who don't earn money. If she didn't, she'd be in a different time slot. They may be 55-year-old black or white women... I don't know.
Every time you watch something on television or read something on the internet, ask yourself, "Who does this benefit?" It is very rarely you.

Of course I don't see anything wrong with advertising industry. That's their job, to help sell products. And fees have to be paid for that.

Wow.. So much negativity.. What ever happened to "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all?" I don't watch her show, no interest in it. However, I can tell she's had a positive impact on this world and I hope she continues to do so. Why all the hatred on here? There are stay-at-home-moms, retirees, and people who are unemployed (and not by choice) people who work night shifts, plenty who would catch her show and not be a freeloader.

No I won't miss Oprah she had a liberal agenda and a lot of power over women. If Oprah had told her viewers to kill their husbands a majority of them would have because to them Oprah was like God. Also she was a racist most all of her charity went to blacks no equal rights there.
