Offshore Wind Power Project In Delaware Endangered

LEWES, Del. (AP) -- The company that plans to build a wind farm off of Delaware's coast says it is delaying construction of a weather tower because federal budget cuts have endangered the project.

NRG Bluewater Wind Delaware tells The News Journal that budget cuts for renewable energy projects have caused uncertainty for the viability of offshore wind projects. The company cites cuts made by Congress to avoid a government shutdown.

if they cant fund it without gov money, it shouldnt be built anyway

9;33, so by your logic, we should get rid of oil subsidies too

it takes money to make money 9:33...windmills are valuable and useful and should be built with or without government money

9:44 please show me where the gov gives oil companies money.

the companies use tax write offs as allowed by the tax code. the gov does not write them checks. there is a difference.
any company can write off losses, research, capital expenditures, ect

If the windfarm was such a great idea it wouldnt need subsidies or guaranteed loans to make it happen. Investors would line up to buy in. There is always money available from folks looking for higher than cd returns. The lack of interest in the wind farms speaks volumes.
Oh by the way...are you willing to pay more for it? That will be the end result. Higher costs with zippo upside.

10:07 Really. How are they valuable and useful?

they are only useful for people who DO NOT pay electric bills or for section 8

nothing happens to them, just the everyday home owner who gets NO subsidy. and the MORON above who thinks oil get "subsidies" is grossly misinformed. You need to EDUCATED yourself and not let a radio or tv educate about the political verbiage called "subsidy".
