Major League Baseball teams can try to raise their ticket prices to increase revenue, but supply and demand ultimately determine their prices. Seas of empty seats at baseball games and stockpiles of marked-down tickets available on sites such as StubHub can make for ridiculously cheap tickets, especially in cities with bad teams.

I've seen it happening too and have witnessed the gradual drawdown in the attendance.
It is happening to professional foot also. It's going to be interesting as the NFL players union and owners vow for even higher prices.
As much as I like professional football - this past years I decided to stay at home.
Here in DC, I can get solid tickets to the Nats for under 20$. Two days a week they now run dollar specials. Even though those seats are standing room only, it's still a good deal.
