Panetta: Death Photo Will 'Ultimately' Be Released

But Panetta says that the ultimate decision rests with the White House

CIA director Leon Panetta told NBC News Tuesday that a photo proving the death of Osama bin Laden "would be presented to the public," but the comment quickly drew a response from the White House saying no decision has yet been made.

"The bottom line is that, you know, we got bin Laden and I think we have to reveal to the rest of the world the fact that we were able to get him and kill him," Panetta said in an interview with Nightly News.

Asked by Reuters about the remarks, a White House spokesman said no decision had been made about releasing images of bin Laden dead.

The White House had earlier expressed concerns about making any death images of bin Laden public, considering the nature of his fatal wounds. U.S. officials say the still-secret photographic evidence shows a precision kill shot above his left eye, which blew away part of his skull. He was also shot in the chest, they said.

The White House said the photograph of a dead Osama bin Laden is "gruesome" and that "it could be inflammatory" if released.

Gruesome or inflammatory i dont give a damn. Every person in the United States should be able to view every photo of this animal's fate. This guy was the most evil person second only to Adolph Hitler .... Im tired of something not being shown because it might offend someone or some group in other words dont like it dont look ... The media didnt have a problem showing the planes flying into the towers non stop for weeks on end

i am so sick of hearing about obama and osama, i hate to be political and sound un appreciative but, obama didnt do a dam* thing but give the order it is our military that got the job done, and personally i think this is an election ploy for obama, the government is crooked hince our gas prices, healthcare and plenty of other things going on. It is funny how all of a sudden they learned osama's whereabouts and went in for the kill, yet we have no proof, no body just words of the govt. I agree with alot of people that something just dont sound right.
