5 Maryland Correctional Officers Indicted

BALTIMORE - Maryland corrections officials say five correctional officers have been indicted by a grand jury on assault charges.

Corrections officials say the charges stem from a January incident at Baltimore's central booking center. Eight officers were placed on administrative leave following the incident, including the warden and a major at the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center.

The department of corrections issued a statement Monday saying the five include the major and four officers and it plans to fire all eight.

Thank you DOC! Finally, a DOC who sees that you must take responsibility for wrong doing even of your own. It is a shame that the Wicomico County Detention Center has failed to do so for decades, not just in recent years. Everyone knows it and no one does anything about it. Before you get carried away! There are and have been excellent people who have worked there and felt the same way. It is not an easy job and the GOOD ones who have stayed should be commended! Maybe Wicomico will take the same action the next time one of their own messes up too.
