Online Games?

Federal employees are discussing how online games could increase public engagement. On Govloop, feds are floating the idea of an online game to teach the public just how government employees do their jobs. The game would play on the idea of children's "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, where you go through scenarios and choose how to move forward. The game would allow you to become an adventurer through local or central democracy. The player has to navigate through the average week or month in that job role. North Carolina has a similar game - the Balance the Budget Challenge

Want to teach kids what a big circle-jerk the government is? Have them sit around the Department of Motor Vehicles for a day. Or maybe just hang out at the local Department of Social Services for a few hours. Or even the Social Security Admin office. Watch how 50-60 government employees try to accomplish what 5 private sector employees could get done in HALF THE TIME. Believe me, it AIN'T no game, unless you are referring to the "game" being played on "we, the people". Even the suggestion that the government should develop "games" to teach kids about the government...LOL!!! We USED to call THAT "civics class", which has now been replaced by "10 easy steps to make Johnny feel good about himself"....that's first period...second period is the math class, which tries to teach Johnny how to add 5 + 8 BEFORE he graduates next week. If he doesn't learn it, well, he DID pass the self esteem class, so it's okay....he's still a winner...
