Jack Johnson Admits To Extortion, Tampering

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) - Former Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson, accused in a widespread probe into pay-to-play business dealings, pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal charges of extortion and witness and evidence tampering.

"This has been a very trying time for our family," Johnson said at a press conference following the hearing Tuesday. "I'm very sorry for what happened ... We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of the lord."

The plea comes six months after Johnson was overheard in a telephone conversation recorded by the FBI directing his wife to flush down the toilet a $100,000 check from a developer and to conceal nearly $80,000 in cash in her underwear.

Johnson, a Democrat who led the county of more than 860,000 people from 2002 to 2010, was arrested with less than a month left in his term.

He's not guilty. It's just racist to even accuse him of any wrongdoing.

I've had quite a few convos about Dirty Jack Johnson with my neighbors here in PGC. And yes, that was his nickname years before he was wiretapped by the Feds. Glad he's gone, and I'm glad he pled out. Although it's a bit hard to argue with your own recorded words. I hope they throw the book at him, and let him rot in prison.

You know the same is true here in Wicomico County, the landfill and the waste water treatment plant, both cases should have the FBI involved but locals like Davis Ruark and our city attorney made sure that did not happen.

9:40, it wouldn't take much to put a similar string together that places Reagan, either Bush, or alot of other conservatives at the tail end. You people who think one party holds a monopoly on corruption are absolute buffoons.
