Wicomico Elected School Board Bill DEAD! …

… at least for this year.

THANKS Norm Conway!  Rick Pollitt, John Fredericksen, and the NAACP couldn’t have done it without you!

Here’s the synopsis:

  • Senate passes bill.
  • Conway diddles with his own bill by adding one amendment, withdrawing it, and then adding another (one that was obviously designed to confuse the voters).
  • House Ways & Means gives bill favorable report on Saturday.
  • House adopts Conway’s amended bill.
  • Bill is recommitted to the Senate because the Senate bill (which is EXACTLY the same as Conway’s original bill) differs from the House bill.
  • Bill is dead for 2011.

Confusing?

Of course it is.  Watch Norm explain that he really didn’t torpedo the elected school board bill.  Watch Norm’s nose grow as he speaks.

Norm knows who butters his bread - he makes "General" Sarbanes look like an amateur at the public trough.

If a bill is recommitted to the Senate, is it automatically dead by some procedural requirement, or are you assuming that it will be dead because noone will resubmit it?

He is such a donkeys behind - I hope those who voted for this fool are happy.

And he did this contrary to the request the County Council stated they were going to make at last weeks evening meeting. When does he come up for reelection? We need to remember how these elected officials represent the majority that elected them......

12:25, what makes you think you know how the majority feels? A majority of Salisbury News commenters does not necessarily translate the a majority of voters. Just saying....

good bye Norm.

DISGUSTING

I didn't say how the majority felt - nor do I purport to know. My statement was to remember the representation....the majority elected him regardless.

English is a tough language...

Norm Conway should have recused himself from participation on this bill.

Norm Conway has collected a salary from the Board of Education for years and I am of the opinion - as such - that he was also acting in furtherance of the BOE agenda. Some have said that he was a paid lobbyist for the BOE and also drawing a salary almost simultaneous as a Delegate.
This guy should be written-up.

Norm you are out! Another reason to not vote for Norm next time.

Are all of the Norm haters so blind as to cut their nose off to spite their face? You don't agree with him on an issue so vote him out? This man (via his seniority and as head of the app. comm.) brings more state money to the Eastern Shore than anyone else ever has. To vote him out will be writing a check to the Western Shore from each county Norm represents. And, it will be a long, long time, if ever that Eastern Shore citizens will have his equal to represent their interests.

Thanks for the comment Norm

Term limits for every politician is what I'd like to see. I know it will never happen but I can still wish. Voters can only stand so many promises, lies, promises, lies, promises, lies...........

Keep up the good work, Norm. Many of us appreciate all you do for the Shore.

Conway, once again has demonstrated his true lack of integrity and character. Will the voters finally see this politician for what he really is and vote him out.

To go against the will of an elected body, voted in by the people, partly because they ran on supporting an elected board of education is absolutely disgusting!

I think you are missing the bigger point. Norm was or is an exofficio of the BOE. That is a known fact. To say otherwise is to deny reality.

He should have not of been engaged in trying to promulgate regulations where he drew a salary. This is clearly unethical behavior and ought not be allowed.

Curious -

According to the staff at the Senate Education committee, the bill is effectively dead for this year. The bill was re-committed on the last day of the session and wasn't considered a priority.

Just why did he create a road block against the will of the taxpayers?

Once a liberal educator - always a liberal educator.

Because it's not in the democrats agenda 9:00. They would rather have someone they can control and promote their views, rather than have someone who would be held accountable to the citizens. Schools are just a propaganda machine for the left. When my son was in highscool Ben Cardins name was everywhere in the student body. The teachers and BOE promote who scratches their back and in turn they brainwash our kids into thinking democrats are good and republicans are evil and want to starve granny.
