Tornado Watch Issued For D.C. Area

We'll see a major swing of temperatures once again Monday, and some severe weather is possible.

A tornado watch have been issued for most of the D.C. region until 4 p.m.

A strong cold front will be approaching the region by mid-afternoon, according to NBC Washington meteorologist Tom Kierein. Ahead of that front, we will likely have thunderstorms that could produce damaging winds, hail and possible tornadoes.

Some of these thunderstorms also may produce some brief periods of heavy rain.

The threat of severe storms is 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will be important to pay attention to the forecast throughout the day as watches and warnings could be issued.
