As a non resident property owner I wish I could. But just because I pay the tax's, keep up the property in the heart of the city, collect less than the small mortgage, taxes, insurance & licensing fees combined I am happier letting my unemployed, independance card using tennants vote in my stead. Glad you are back to anonymous or Tom would come write me up for a chipped door.
2:38 PM I am glad you offer low income housing to unemployed people. Do not forget to add that in the heart of the city the low rent costs $450 and up. PLUS utilities in the same bracket. AND the houses are old and not insulated - they are just for poor people - you samaritan. Keep the good job up, poor soul.. If you want to vote in City election YOU must live IN THE CITY as well. Maybe together with your tenants in the heart of the city? You wouldn't have to pay mortgage on your waterfront property.. and you could save ooodles of $ on gas. BUT you would have to pay County taxes as well as we - the City voters do. No pity on you!
3:00 You're so right - those folks belong on the streets or out working to afford the type of housing you think they should have. Maybe instead you should buy all the property of which you don't approve, and fix it up to your standards, then let these poor people live there rent free.
3:57 - these folks should have truly affordoble housing. If you think $1000 is affordable for non working people you live in lala land. And if you are using our tax money for chapter 8 program - shame on you for offering this crappy housing for $900 just for rent. You landlords are milking the system and us taxpayers. Move in to the city! Then we can talk. Stop whining.
Of course, I moved out of MD for the same reasons I would not vote for these people had I still been there. The deeply entrenched MD political machine has destroyed the State and it will take years to turn that around once it starts. How long it will take to start is a question you may want to weigh against your time left on the top side of the grass.
Ford is nice guy but works at ECI and gives those criminals whatever they want cause he is afraid of getting sued. I think he should stick to the fire company job or get a backbone.
Yes. This where it begins folks. Ignore the vote and you will end up to where we are today..locally and nationally.. Not much more can be said. Get out and VOTE!
2:29, No there's no downside to voting for only two candidates, though you might want to vote for fewer than three in the general election. It's a rather foregone conclusion that Cohen and Spies will win and win handily tomorrow, so I may vote for a couple of the others instead just to get one on the ballot. I had the chance to talk with Joel Dixon tonight and was rather impressed, as I was when he came to my door campaigning.
Vote for only 2 candidates. Cohen and Spies are by far the better of the evils and we know what we are getting . A vote for a 3rd candidate will likely steal a vote from Spies or Cohen.
Dixon is a fiscal conservation if you've paying attention.. which you obviously haven't since Spies is IN FAVOR of raising taxes, says the thousands of dollars for PART TIME city council health insurance is "paper clip money". I don't agree with snatching their health benefits from them in midterm however when police are being furloughed and the city in the shape that it is, then no money should be considered 'paper clip money'.
Voted for Cohen, Spies, and Mitchell....surprised to not see anyone else mention Laura Mitchell. I want representatives that work/live in this community, and who are not bankrolled by special interest groups. As a homeowner on East Church St this election is very important to me as I see the rampant crime, drugs, prostitution, and lost youth that blight my neighborhood and this city's reputation.

Yes, I'll be voting for the 3 with no attachment to special interests.
Yes, but not for anybody from B(-oda)D(-ixon)D(-ryden)clan!
yes
B & D & D - 4 in my household vote yes.
Is there any downside to voting for just 2 candidates?

Dixon seems a nice guy, but he is part of the SAPOA choices, based on the contribution list.
After Gary Comegys, I don't want another firefighter on that council for a long time. The "brotherhood" for some gets more loyalty than the city.
Plus Dixon works across the bay. I want somebody with the time and some life experience.
10:01 PM
Joel Dixon is not a worthy candidate. He is tied in with the Gordy Klan and his spending will be fiscally irresponsible.
After all he said the $1,000,000 fire boat is a smart investment with the city.
Vote ONLY Spies and Cohen!!

There is no downside to voting for 2. Either way there will be 6 on the ballot in April.
Dryden, Boda, DIxon here......
