NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- In an effort to put 1 million electric cars on the road by 2015, the Obama administration has proposed a plan that would put up to $7,500 directly in the hands of car buyers without having them jump through any tax hoops.
Plug-in car advocates love the idea but dealers aren't so sure about it.

What is the cost of car if I get 7,500 back in a rebate?
I would think it would be 7500 less than the price you negotiated.
BTW dont bring it up until you have negotiated on the price... that is if you buy the electic car
Asking the question somewhat differently:
How much cheaper than a $23k Prius is this car or the Volt after ANY rebate? The Prius goes about 500 miles at 55 MPG on a tank of gas and and there is no down time to recharge the batteries. Like an all electric golf cart, these all electric cars go about 40 miles on a charge. If that's all the driving you do, buy a (much cheaper) golf cart.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out this is yet another gigantic waste of money!
