SEC Taps Ex-Goldman Executive As New Mutual Fund Cop

The Securities and Exchange Commission has named Eileen Rominger, an 11-year veteran of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, as its new director of investment management, replacing Andrew J. “Buddy” Donahue.

Ms. Rominger, 56, who most recently was chief investment officer at GSAM, will start her position at the SEC in February, according to a statement issued by the SEC.

“Eileen brings the agency a lifetime of experience in the asset management industry and a record of strong leadership,” SEC Chairman Mary L. Schapiro said in the statement. “She understands the importance of the nation's investment management industry to the well-being of investors everywhere.”

Mr. Donahue left the SEC on Nov. 19. Jennifer McHugh, a senior adviser to Ms. Schapiro, is serving as acting director of the division while Ms. Schapiro searches for a permanent replacement.

Ms. Rominger has worked as a portfolio manager for 30 years. Before joining Goldman, she managed equity portfolios at Oppenheimer Capital LLC.

SEC spokesman John Nester declined to provide further comment.
