Why do we have public radio, anyway? Every other radio and television station has advertisers and has to pay their own way in order to survive. Public (read, liberal) radio should have to do the same thing. Rush Limbaugh and Co. don't get public subsidies. They have to survive, and they are always under constant threat of the "Fairness Doctrine." Throw MPT and NPR to the wolves and let the market come to bear.

This is nothing new. They have been doing this for decades until they pass new taxes. It has been used as a gimmick to justify new taxes. State Agencies us a similar method to hide money instead of giving it back to the General Fund because they know their budget will be cut by that much automatically and they will never get it back when it is needed / justified. They also use this at the Federal level for the same purpose but they also use it to rob SSI.
