I'll See Your Hundred Thousand And Raise You TEN THOUSAND, CASH!

While many of you already know that I had offered $250,000.00 CASH for this building, Councilman Gary Comegys publicly stated he would NOT sell Joe Albero the building. My CASH offer had no contingencies attached.

Salisbury News is now interested in creating an Eastern Shore Headquarters in this building as 2011 will bring yet another massive change to our daily visitors. The building will be ADDED to the tax roll and we will start employing people immediately following a settlement on the property.

We will use the upper level for our Offices while we'd consider a Firehouse Museum on the main level. The structure would remain the same as it is today. We'd also entertain a crafts center on the main floor to help build economic & development to the Downtown area. We'd make the front and side available for a Farmer's Market for $10.00 a day per vendor.

I don't know what else to tell you Folks. I'm willing to pony up the cash TODAY. My money is guaranteed. If the City is not willing to take another offer above and beyond what is on the table right now, VOTE THESE PEOPLE OUT OF OFFICE AND ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THEM IN THE NEXT ELECTION.

Set aside the cash offer, Salisbury News clearly brings in enough money in advertising to support such a purchase if anything was ever financed, just in case the nay sayers challenge my cash offer.

What Say You Now Mayor Ireton & All Council Members?

On a side note, I have a very bad cold and I may not be able to attend tonights meeting. Therefore I bring this offer via Salisbury News and I will forward the link to all Council Members to assure they see it. I am attempting to see if my financial advisor can come to tonights meeting on my behalf to represent my CASH offer.

When are you going to realize that the city can sell to whomever they want, regardless of price? Just because you offer more money, it doesn't mean you bring more value to the community. That is what is more important. An additional ten thousand dollars from you would cost Salisbury so much more.

Thanks Mr. Gillis.

You being a slum lord doesn't bring value to the community either.

Good for you Joe. Now we'll see if these folks really care about the City or if they're in it just to stroke their egos regardless of the good or bad they do to those they're supposed to represent.

what?
what kind bs is that 10:39?

But Joe you are not lineing the pockets of these council people.
You just told them what you intend to do with the property. Palmer dont know what he wants to do with it. He just WANTS it. As a taxpayer I want it sold, if it is sold, for the best price and kept on the tax record.
Thanks Joe!

It's a firehouse and it needs to stay a firehouse.

There is an election coming up and everyone that votes to give this firehouse to Brad Gillis will be voted out of office. That includes you Jim Ireton!

11:23 - That's an option that people need to stop talking about. The building is inadequate for that purpose; all experts agree it's not necessary; there are lots of better uses for it. Next you'll be wanting to bring back hitching posts because they worked so well before.

Go for it Joe!!

The first floor could house SFD's antique fire engines and be on display for all year.

LMAO. Headquarters? Headquarters for what?? Employ people? Are you kidding me??? What a joke!! You should seek some medication buddy.

It would appear to me that it goes to the highest bidder, but hey what do I know! Get those fools out of office Salisbury

just drove by old station 16 (around 1pm) and saw Bradley Gillis being interviewed in front of it by channel 16/21 reporter

Let me understand, your going to complain about the city selling it for so cheap. Then your going to offer 10,000 more and try to get it cheap yourself, but try to make yourself look like the good guy at the same time??

I never knew "They" could sell to whom They wanted & turn down a higher offer----I know there are laws as to
what can go there-- but Who made the laws that "They" decide Who gets to buy?
Soooooooo Crooked is our City & County . I am almost ashamed to say I live in this County any more & I've been here over 40 yrs. If my house
would sell I'd leave tomorrow!!!!

Gillis wants it to make an apartment house out of the whole thing. He owns property downtown already and neither of them have revitalized the downtown area. Offices in the Gallery building and the AIG people in the other building. Has Palmer Gillis and AIG gotten straight on their taxes with the city yet? Maybe they should worry about that instead of trying to steal a historical landmark from the citizens.

Go for it Joe, you have the money and the cajones to stand up to these people.

When things get down to business this evening and the council decides to approve, or not approve this project, that has been very openly in the works for over year and a half, you guys who are against it are going to have to come up with some very specific and logical arguments if you want to avoid looking like absolute ignorant fools in view of everyone.

Based on the powerful arguments presented here over time here's what I'm anticipating.

"It's a giveaway, you're all on the take!"

"I did not know anything about this! When did all this happen? It's an outrage!"

"Joe Albero will give you $ 110,000 for it. No make that $ 250,000!"

"It's the liberals fault!"

"Keep it a firehouse!"

"The City Council can't put conditions on what you can do with city property. You've got to auction it off to the highest bidder! It's some kind of law ...isn't it?"

"Palmer Gillis is the anti-Christ!"

"My 20 seat restaurant, not in downtown and not set up to handle large meetings, will not survive a downtown facility dedicated to food service and hospitality education, large meetings and 100 to 200 person banquet facility. It will DESTROY me!"

Get your rhetorical skills sharpened up guys. I think we will all have a good scrum tonight!

What is the plan Palmer??? You still haven't said your plan!!! Or is it just sell it to me and then I will tell you. What is the plan Palmer???? You still haven't said your plan!!!! Or is it give it to me and I will do what is best for me???? What is your plan Plamer??? Or is it just sell it to me and then I will tell you. What are you going to put on the WATERFRONT LOT and what are you going to do with UMES??? What is the plan Palmer????? Its been in the works for 2 years... Still NO PLAN PALMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2:41 do you have reading comprehension difficulties? The specifics of the planned use are explicitly and publicly laid out in the use proposal that was submitted to the council many months ago.

What was your cunning plan? To start stamping your feet and shouting this demand at the meeting until someone put a copy of it in your hands, and gave you a lollipop?

Smooth. Very smooth.

Joseph Albero said...

anonymous 2:56, there was NO planned use when I offered $250,000.00 2 years ago. There was NO RFP. They created it so I couldn't purchase it. They did the same thing with the horse patrol.

Anonymous said...

Gillis is a joke. Dont' ever do business with these crooks!!

Anonymous said...

Joe, I know you aren't feeling well; however, I really hope that you can attend the meeting. Somebody needs to hold their feet to the fire. Go get them Joe.

Anonymous said...

I had no idea there were never any user requirements discussed until after you made your bid Joe. That's outrageous!

I'm going tonight and tell them what you said, and that putting that RFP together just to spite you personally is illegal!

Anonymous said...

joe you buy it and build it and i will come and support it. if it lands in the hands of gillis i'm sure many will avoid it like a plague

i'm beginning to think i voted for a mare

What's hilarious is the people who say "What's the plan!?!?" The plan has been better advertised than the opposition. This is like the people who claim evolution isn't real. Just because you don't know about it, sweetie, doesn't mean it ain't so. Poor little school children.

evolution? gary's knuckles still drag the ground always have

Here's real revenge Joe, go to the meeting with that cold, don't wash up hoping to keep all of those little germs in motion. Get very close to the faces of those you want to infect and show your decency, make sure you shake everyone's hand, especially the mayor, and try to cough as much as possible to get rid of those germs. Tomorrow will be your day of revenge, you'll see. I got mine that very way, about a month ago, talking to close (didn't know they had it), unknowingly shook hands, had it really bad the very next afternoon, lasted exactly 3 full weeks. Revenge is best served up close and personal. Better get dressed, it's almost 6 pm.

Stop hiding behind anonymous! If you have something to say, say it with conviction. Own it, be accountable, be responsible. Otherwise, you are cowardly.

Another lame restaurant with a fire theme and lots of fried food. Swell. That'll pack 'em in downtown...
