Now that the elections are over the real work begins. My father, Ronald Reagan, warned us decades ago about “socialized medicine”. His words are as true today as they were in 1964.
If given the chance, he said then, the American people would reject a government take over of medicine and, by nearly every poll result, we did.
If given the chance, he said then, the American people would reject a government take over of medicine and, by nearly every poll result, we did.
But Congress and the White House ran right over the will of the American people and enacted a takeover of a huge segment of our private economy. This is not the America directed by its citizens upon which our nation was founded. Instead, we have been misled, bamboozled and treated with utter contempt by elected officials drunk on power. Even faithful representation has been ignored:
- We were promised the health care act would not increase private insurance premiums or taxes but premium increases have already begun and new taxes are on the way.
- We were promised the health care act would not increase private insurance premiums or taxes but premium increases have already begun and new taxes are on the way.
- We were promised that senior citizens would not be harmed but with $500 billion in cuts to Medicare (to achieve patently phony “savings”), that cannot be true either and the elderly know it and now fear the future.
- It was promised that this legislation would finally control escalating health care costs but we got the opposite of cost controls. Without such controls, Congress has engineered increased demand against a finite supply of doctors and hospitals—a virtual guarantee that both the national debt and household bills will skyrocket.

"ran over the will of the people". Another myth that the zealots on the right sucked up. Healthcare was a major part of the Dem platform for which they were elected on by the people in 2008. You can easily argue that you don't like the bill that resulted but cut the "it was forced on us" crap.
The government did not take over healthcare. All it really amounts to are some extra rules for the insurance companies.
What are you two smoking this morning. The American people were thrown under the Obama bus so the progressives he could ram Obamacare through. If the Speaker's words "We have to pass the bill to find out what's in it." don't prove it was shoved down our throats when over 70% of the population didn't want it, nothing will.
11:23 A large part of that 70% did not think it went far enough.
11:23, lets stick to facts when trying to make a point. Healthcare was discussed thouroughly throughout the 08 campaign. And the current bill reflects the overall goals espoused by then candidate Obama (as well as many Dems.)prior to being elected by a strong majority. Plus surveys show that Americans agree with many of the individual portions of the bill. The dislikes showed up when Reps. hungry for power, started spouting "socialist takeover" and "grandma killer". You have so many of you who don't even know whats in the bill yet you have come to the conclusion that you don't like it.
The people have spoken!
He did not run on health care! He spoke of hope and change and that was about it because he had no record. Now Obama has a record he can't escape he's a one term-er!
What's actually in the health care bill??? That's what I thought!
yeah the Gipper might be have not been a senile statesman and alive today if there had been some social stem cell policy
4:07, you are exactly what is wrong with the electorate. Too lazy to actually stake out a candidate's position, you would rather simply allow Rush/Hannity to tell you what to think. Atleast take 2 min. to youtube clips from the campaign before you spout anymore nonsense.
