You Better Keep Good Tabs On Your Vehicles

I just held a conversation with a friend of mine who shared an unreal experience yesterday.

As they were leaving their home they just happened to look across the street where they own a piece of property and store a dump truck. The noticed a strange vehicle on their lot in which they knew something just wasn't right.

They confronted the individual and asked what they thought they were doing. Mind you, the drivers side window had been bashed out of the vehicle and the ignition was all torn apart. The individual said they were towing the vehicle. When they asked who gave them permission to do so the towing company said, a woman called in the complaint to have it removed.

When my friend asked who the woman was the driver pulled out a slip of paper and proceeded to tell my friend that they had purchased the vehicle from this woman for $150.00. My friend said, well, I'm the OWNER of the vehicle, how could this woman sell a vehicle to you that she doesn't own. The driver then pulled out a piece of paper with 5 questions on it.

1. Do you own the vehicle. Answer, NO.
2. Do you have the keys to the vehicle. Answer, NO.
3. Do you have the registration to the vehicle. Answer, NO.
4. Do you have the title to the vehicle. Answer, NO.
5. Do you have permission to sell the vehicle. Answer, YES.

The answer to question #5 was good enough for this towing company to take possession of the vehicle. That is, until the Police were called. To my amazement, the driver was NOT arrested and instead worked out a deal in which he would come back this Thursday to replace the window and ignition switch. Yeah, like that's going to ever happen!

So Folks, you may want to keep your eyes open for your own vehicles as well as your neighbors. We're pretty confident that IF my friends hadn't happened to come across this while it was going on, their vehicle would have been gone for good and probably sold for parts. By the way, this happened right on Camden Ave during broad daylight.

Salisbury has become no different than Harlem or the Bronx in New York City.

"Salisbury has become no different than Harlem or the Bronx in New York City."

I strongly disagree... All cities are going to have problems. But we are NOTHING like major cities

The ONLY thing Salisbury doesn't have, (problem wise) is the loud noise from commuter trains and elevated tracks. Police and Fire sirens have become a way of life. Drive by shootings, murders, political corruption, sorry but you'd have to convince me Salisbury isn't just as bad, if not worse, than other major Cities. Your putting putting lipstick on a pig. I should add, whenever YOU want Salisbury to have more, funny how you compare Salisbury to Rockville and Bowie.

Joe, thank you for the heads up on the incident on Camden Ave. But I do take offense of your last paragraph comparing Salisbury to Harlem & Bronx. If you are so against Salisbury why do you spend so much time here. Isn't your home in the Delmar area? Constructive criticism is one thing but slander is just plain mean.

I think we need to know the tow company's name here since this has to do with their business ethics.

I, too have had a hinky and suspicious encounter with a tow company from out of town right here in Salisbury.

Salisbury is worse than New York. It has very little in the way of culture but a lot in the way of crime.

Put that in your corn cob pipe and smoke it.

Salisbury had a chopshop down over by the boat builders for years, everyone knew about it. And trust me, Salisbury is no Harlem, Bronx, or any other major city. Having a couple shootings IS NOTHING like a city. There are so many shootings in the summertime by my home, that people have asked me if there is a local gun range. Yeah, Salisbury is getting worse. It's been getting worse for years.

But to compare to any city is laughable. Plain and simple. You can say per capita or based on X population, but when you look at the pure, raw numbers, Salisbury has had less murders in the past decade then DC has in an average month. Salisbury has had less rapes in the past decade then DC averages a month. More crimes would be solved and prevented if local Gomer Piles weren't on the case. Although I do approve of the recent hiring of the new head of SPD. Seems like a good move to address the decades long uptick in crime in the area.

obviously 5:15 is a true statistical genius. If you think per capita has nothing to with how bad a city is, you out out of your mind. IF crime in a city Is 5 times the national average, that means if you are an average person living in that city You are 5 times more likely to be a victim of a crime then the average city. Yeah, of course the numbers arent going to be the same, but if baltimore has 3 times the national average and salisbury has 5, then baltimore is a safer place to live. You are comparing apples to oranges. You are laughable.
