Members of the Worcester County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 50 read the article written in the Coast Dispatch regarding Joel Todd, Beau Oglesby, and the endorsement made by the Lodge. It should be noted that Mr. Todd wrote a letter to the FOP Lodge 50 asking for their endorsement of his candidacy for the office of State’s Attorney of Worcester County. He also asked members of the Lodge to encourage the other lodge members to endorse him. After much time and discussion, a decision was made to endorse Beau Oglesby for the Office of State’s Attorney. A quorum was present at that meeting for that vote. That vote
resulted in a unanimous decision to endorse Beau Oglesby.
For Mr. Todd to dismiss the endorsement as meaningless is concerning to many in law enforcement because Mr. Todd sought the endorsement with vigor. Mr. Todd seems to overlook that all three Fraternal Order of Police lodges in Worcester County have endorsed Beau Oglesby for States Attorney. That is a very large
representation of Worcester County Law Enforcement who no longer wishes to see Mr. Todd continue as Worcester County State’s Attorney.

It would appear that Mr. Todd is having a bad case of "I'm going to take my toys and go home!" He sought the endorsement. He didn't get the endorsement. Beau did. Now he wants to run home crying to Mommy because he didn't get his way. This shows a great deal about Mr. Todd's character. Let's not even discuss the mailer that he sent out, and the fact he threw his wife under the bus about it. Mr. Todd has shown he will do anything to win, and, while this might be a desirable trait in an attorney, it is not a desirable trait in a public office holder. There is a need for a change. Beau Oglesby may not be perfect, but in a way, he is better than what is currently out there.
I don't have a dog in this fight, so I honestly don't care one way or another. What I do care about is the fact that in an office where justice is metted out, a person that will stoop to any low to get re-elected is not the person that needs to be running.

This race is ugly: again, and here come the police to mess with it even more. Cops have proven themselves to be the biggest cry babies around. The local FOP's give every indication they'd throw their grandmothers under the bus if it was politically expedient. The OC FOP endorsements didn't carry any weight in the recent OC elections. Stick to the business of law enforcement and stay out of politics, you're not looking good here.
law enforcment want a buddy in power so when they screw up their buddy will take care of them. police and politics don't mix. there is enough corruption without those two in bed together.
The FOP isn't messing with anything 8:22. ALL Worcester County FOPs have endorsed Beau. They put their lives on the line to protect the citizens of Worcester County. They are in court EVERY DAY and see the inaction by the current State's Attorney. Many have been assaulted by these criminals that walk out the same door once Joel Todd lets them go because they're high priced attorney gave him thousands of dollars for his campaign. They know better than anyone what is going on or not going on in Snow Hill daily.

My name is Craig Theobald and I made the motion to endorse Mr. Oglesby at the Lodge 50 FOP meeting. And I'm proud of that. Joel Todd is an embarrassment to all that is true justice. My Brothers and Sisters of Lodge 50 agree.
We need a prosecutor that isn't in defense attorneys pockets. Joel's major contributors are all defense attorneys. From a cop's viewpoint, that smacks of corruption. Enough said.

Well said, 8:22. While the vast majority of police officers are upstanding, hard-working, heroic folks, there are a few of them who should be thankful that THEIR jobs don't depend on a vote by the people. Otherwise, they'd be asking "Do you want fries with that?"
I hope Mr. Oglesby is paying attention to all of this nastiness also; if elected, he will be in Mr. Todd's current shoes soon enough. It won't matter how well you do your job, good sir, you WILL eventually tick somebody off. Eventually you WILL be forced to slap one of their hands for some wrongdoing or mistake. See, that's the difference between being an attorney and being the State's Attorney--it makes you the county's Chief Law Enforcement Officer with the power and obligation to oversee all other law enforcement entities and officers. Not only does your job require you to prosecute the bad guys, it requires you to investigate and prosecute police officers who come into question or possibly violate the law. And when you do, take heed: all those "atta boys" and pats on the back by your good buddies from the FOP will be quickly forgotten. They will turn on you like a pack of vicious rabid dogs. Just ask Mr. Todd.
In fact. OC fop Endorsed three in the local election. 2 of the three were re-elected. The third loss by 40 some votes. I would say it carried some weight. Also if you have paid attention, when these two met in the last election, Joel took a add out claiming that some 15 ocpd officers had broke from the fop endorsement and supported him. It apperently was important to him at that time to have LE support. Oh and by the way, many of those he mentioned in the add never endorsed him. Funny how tactics seem to repeat themselves.
10:55, The State's Attorney is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer? Check your facts, dude. That be the sheriff of the county. A State's Attorney can't even write a parking ticket much less have the power and/or obligation to oversee the other agencies in the county.
Sorry, 10:55--better check YOUR facts. That'd be the STATE'S ATTORNEY'S OFFICE. Ask Beau if you don't believe it.
