We'd save a lot of money if we did drug testing on welfare recipients. Maybe the State could get out of debt if we did that. What happened to welfare reform? Stop providing a check for unmarried girls and unemployed men. I'm tired of working hard to provide for the lazy. Being a single mother shouldn't be something to strive for. Look at your prisoners. You'll see the majority of them were brought up by a single mother.

YES YES AND YES When you get a job at most places you have to have a drug test. I agree that if you take federal money... you get a drug test...

Sounds good ----but pray tell who do you think is going to get all these things accomplished?-----Could have been done years ago but it hasn't been --doesn't make any difference if the Republicans rule----they won't get it done either!! It's all about the Money!!

These aren't exactly "public benefits" since they are funded by unemployment taxes that the employer pays. Washington has extended "loans" to extend funded benefits for some but that was pretty much restricted to those on unemployment through the election period.

The only bad people on welfare and/or food stamps are those who take advantage of it. A State or County employee is funded by public money too. So, is it the intent that we prevent public money from being used to purchase illegal drugs? If so, all public sector employees should be (randomly) tested as well.

I can't stand a freeloader as much as the next guy, but saying that drug testing welfare recipients would get our state out of debt is laughable. That money is a very very small percentage of our state budget.
