The personnel matter is Ireton's choice outsiders for police chief and fire chief. It would be in the best interest of the city council to vote these choices down and demand someone from the inside.

Without knowing the other applicants how do you know it would be in their best interest? Lets say Salisbury is starting an NFL team would you rather start you team with a very good local QB or would you rather have Peyton Manning? I'm not saying that is the case but your logic is stupid.

Being a great guy is not all it takes to be a great chief. Many of the signatures on that petition were placed because they were put on the spot. Salisbury needs change. You would sign it too if you thought it would get back to the person who it supports who happens to be in charge at the time. I signed it without reading that letter to which my name was attached. I guess that is on me. Morale has slightly improved, but, as far as I can see, things are mostly the same.
