Fruitland Police Department Press Releases


Incident: Burglary 1st degree
Date: Between Sept. 4th and 5th, 2010
Location: Cartwright Avenue, Fruitland, Md.
Suspect: Juvenile

Resume’ On September 5th, 2010 at 3:57 p.m., Fruitland police responded to a reported burglary after the fact. Upon arrival officers learned that a window air conditioner unit had been pushed inward allowing access to the4 interior of a private residence. Upon gaining entry the suspect removed a play station 3 gaming console and a game contained within it. The window air conditioning unit was replaced. Subsequent events led to the arrest of a juvenile. The property was recovered. The juvenile was remanded to the custody of juvenile authorities.

Incident: CDS Violations
Date: September 6th 2010
Location: East Cedar Lane and N. Dulany Avenue, Fruitland, Md.
Suspect: Durell Dorian Robins age 25
Fruitland, Maryland

Resume’ On September 6th, 2010 at 4:56 p.m., Fruitland police on routine patrol observed a yellow motor scooter being operated by the suspect manuver in such a manner as to strike a curb and fall on it’s side. The operator picked the scooter up and rode away from the scene. Police activated lights and siren at which time the suspect looked back at them and sped up. The suspect continued to accelerate to maximum speed (35mph) and finally pulled over in the vicinity of Leslie Street. Contact with the suspect revealed he did not a drivers license or a moped permit. Subsequent investgation revealed the suspect to be in possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. The suspect was remanded to the custody of Central Booking.

Incident: Theft Shoplifting
Date: September 7th, 2010
Location: 409 N. Fruitland Blvd., Salisbury, Md.
WalMart Store
Suspect: Julius Zorro Parsons age 52
Salisbury, Maryland

Resume’ On September 7th, 2010 at 12:52 p.m. Fruitland police were called to the WalMart store in response to a shoplifting complaint. Loss prevention personnel had followed the suspect out of the WalMart store and into the Dollar Tree store located in the same shopping center. Upon entering the Dollar Store, officers were advised the suspect had fled to the rear of the store into the storage area. A search of that area revealed the suspect hiding behind stacked boxes. The property stolen from WalMart was recovered and the suspect arrested. The suspect was remanded to the custody of Central Booking.
