Salisbury Fire Department Ambulance Struck While Responding To Call

At approximately 1238 hours today, Salisbury Fire Department Ambulance Paramedic 16 was dispatched and responding to a medical call for service at the Delmarva Shorebirds Stadium. Paramedic 16 was traveling eastbound on Route 50 in the area of Autumn Grove Court with emergency lights and sirens activated. A vehicle crossing Route 50, entering Autumn Grove Court, collided with Paramedic 16 at that time.
One elderly female patient was transported via Salisbury Fire Department EMS to PRMC for minor injuries. The two Salisbury Fire Department personnel involved were transported to PRMC for evaluation, treated and released.

The vehicle that collided with the ambulance sustained heavy damage. Salisbury Paramedic 16 sustained moderate damage and will be out of service indefinitely until it can be repaired.

City of Salisbury Police Department is handling the investigation.
