Mount Suribachi overlooks the landing beaches. During the battle for Iwo Jima, Mt Suribachigave the defending Japanese forces a perfect vantage point from which to direct lethalartillery fire on the Marines' hastily dug positions on the beach.

no one under 30 gives a shi* about this history. They are too busy worrying about who is going to win American Idol or Survivor, or Do you Think YOu can Dance, etc. Or they are more worried about honoring a hiphop artist by emulating his tatoos. Or they are too worried about some stupid vampire movie. Young people are lost with regard to a historic perspective on anything. If you don't believe it you are not living in the real world.
