STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY ON ADDITION OF 200 JOBS AT MIDDLE RIVER AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS

ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 7, 2010) – Governor Martin O’Malley issued this statement today following the announcement by Middle River Aircraft Systems, a local manufacturing company, will add 200 jobs in the next year to its East Baltimore County facility:

“When I visited Middle River Aircraft Systems a few weeks ago, I saw a Maryland company at the forefront of design and manufacturing eager to expand and grow its employment base. Today, MRAS announced the addition of 200 jobs in the next year, demonstrating further that Maryland has positioned itself to come through this national recession stronger and more quickly than other states.

“After more than 80 years in the Baltimore area, MRAS is a local institution that employs hundreds of Marylanders. I want to welcome them to the growing list of Maryland companies taking advantage of the Job Creation and Recovery Tax Credit we passed this legislative session to create jobs, fuel innovation, and drive economic progress throughout our State.”
