My daughter will be going on 4 field trips in 2 weeks! What the heck is going on. Forget the field trips and allow my children to come home with me. We don't need field trips if there are snow days. It is painfully obvious that they are trying to fill time for the make up days.
Wow 10:10 PM - name calling - way to make your point.
The kids have to be in the school a certain amount of days. Not sure why you'd think doing away with field day would eliminate a make-up a snow day.
8:12 is correct. Field Days have been held at elementary schools for decades. It's also not unusual to have field trips scheduled in over abundance at the end of the year.
Effective education - no. Are they trying to keep kids from being too bored by having field trips now that testing is over and they've got classrooms full of kids who'd rather be playing at home or with friends - sure.

All the elementary schools have Field Day every year...nothing new, not a time filler for snow days.
