DOYLE DOMINATES AS INTIMIDATORS BLANK SHOREBIRDS, 5-0

Game Three of the Series on Friday Night at 7:05 p.m.

Kannapolis, N.C.
– The Delmarva Shorebirds managed only two hits as the Kannapolis Intimidators took game two of the series at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, 5-0, on Thursday night.

The Intimidators took an early lead in the first inning. Daniel Wagner led off with a bunt single pushed to the right side. A passed ball charged to Michael Ohlman pushed Wagner to second. After moving to third on a ground out, he came into score on a sacrifice fly into left field off the bat of Ian Gac.

Kannapolis plated three runs in the fourth inning against Matt Hobgood. Brady Shoemaker drew a one out walk. Kevin Dubler, who entered for the injured catcher Miguel Gonzalez (hand), singled. Then, Jake Oester connected on a two-run double to the left field corner to give the Intimidators a 3-0 edge. Oester advanced to third on the throw home and scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Wagner.

Kannapolis starter Terry Doyle was the story tonight. In seven innings, he allowed just two hits and no runs. He struck out ten batters including the final six he faced.

Matt Hobgood was pinned with the loss. In four innings, he allowed three hits and four runs. Nate Moreau tossed three scoreless innings for the Shorebirds. He allowed two hits.

The Shorebirds offense was held to just two hits. The final 19 batters of the game were retired. Their last hit came in the top of the third inning.

The Shorebirds play game three of the series on Friday night against Kannapolis at 7:05 pm.
