Thomas Leggs Faces Judge Kathlene Beckstead Today

Jennifer Foxwell went to bed last night with mixed feeling, wondering and questioning whether she should go to Court today and face Thomas Leggs.

As most of you know, Leggs has been charged with the murder of 11 year old Sarah Foxwell.

Jennifer got up this morning, got dressed for Court, got half way to the Court House and decided she just couldn't handle the pressure. Representing the Family was Tracey Powell and her Step Father Fred Shores.

As we entered the Court, I was asked not to sit in the front row and or behind Thomas Leggs, I wonder why!

The honorable Judge Kathlene Beckstead entered the Court Room as Thomas Leggs came in completely shackled. Chains around his waist and chains around his feet. For what its worth, the man has gained a good 50 pounds while in Jail and I'm not exaggerating one bit.

His Public Defender Katie O'Donnell started discussing the status conference and the fact that she had only received some of the state's material last evening. She understood that this was an ongoing investigation and went on the record stating "we have no problem with the way the state has handled things so far." Ruark stated they would provide additional information immediately.

Judge Beckstead informed O'Donnell that she would be presiding over this death penalty case and not Judge Davis. From this point forward this is my case. Beckstead stated for the next 45 days the case will be in Wicomico County's jurisdiction.

At that point O'Donnell served Ruark, (right in front of the Judge) a "Suggestion For Removal" (just as I stated earlier, change of venue) and Judge Beckstead wasn't too happy at that point and quite frankly I can't blame her. O'Donnell should have made such a request immediately after she walked into the Court Room.

Judge Beckstead stated, well, Wicomico County no longer has any say in this case at this point and time. "Council has declined Wicomico County's invitation."

O'Donnell stated, "we've been filing for discovery information for months and onths and months."

Judge Long will now reside over this case from this point forward. He will decide where the case will go, (what County) from here on out.

There was no other Press in the Court Room and it was clear that WBOC had seen my 1:00 Post and raced to the Court House. By the time they had arrived we were already leaving the Court House but they wanted to have an interview with Tracey Powell and her Step Father. Tracey declined going on camera. Mind you, I'm not knocking WBOC. I respect the fact that they took the time to be there.

I will be providing another Post right after this one about Sarah Foxwell's Birthday Party and you're ALL invited.

It will probably be sent as far as possible -- Garrett or Allegheny County (where they moved that Thanos case).

Garrett only has one Judge, fat chance.

i say let him bypass all our judges and send him to the final judge now...

John Thanos was tried two times -- the one for the Worcester County murder was held in St. Mary's County, and that for the two kids he killed near Baltimore was held in Garrett County in 1992.

It seems like only yesterday!

How many judges are needed to find him guilty?

John Frederick Thanos was convicted in 1992 of the 1990 murders of Billy Winebrenner, Gregory Allen Taylor, and Melody Pistorio. At his trial he taunted the families of his victims, saying he wished he could dig up their bodies and defile their corpses. "Their cries bring laughter from the darkest caverns of my soul.... I don't believe I could satisfy my thirst yet in this matter unless I was to be able to dig these brats' bones up out of their graves right now and beat them into powder and urinate on them and then stir it into a murky yellowish elixir and serve it up to those loved ones," Thanos said during his sentencing hearing for the murder of Winebrenner and Pistorio.

Thanos waived his appeals and refused to fight his death sentence after he was convicted and sentenced to die. He was executed in 1994 by the state of Maryland by lethal injection, aged 43, becoming the first person to be executed in Maryland since 1976 when the death penalty was reinstated. His last word was "Adios."

Wherever it is held will you be there?

What kind of person would want to defend a known sex offender who has overwhelming evidence of murder on him?

4:05: one that is paid to do so

First people get real he will be offered a deal last min and accept life no parole. Most likely be moved out state prison.Jenn i know things got tough today ,prayers and thoughts are with you .Hope you get it together soon for Sarah and your others.

Question? When its a death penalty case do they assign the most experienced public defender to the case, one that has possibly handled murder and death penalty cases before? Will this lady representing him now also represent him wherever the trial is moved?

i thought a.mcfadden was his pd?

Where was Tommy?

The State will seek Death and nothing less.

He'll be offered no deal if any of these states attorneys want to keep their positions as such.

4:22 he does not have a paid attorney he has 2 public defenders from Baltimore. Arch McFadden is no longer representing him. For whatever reasons Arch gave the case up, good for him. He deserves no defense. He gave Sarah no defense. The only thing he deserves is a brutal death. Sadly the bleeding hearts, starting with Owe'Malley, will never allow that to happen.

Jail is being very good to Leggs. While he is inside fattening up, receiving health care, 3 hots and a cot the family of Sarah Foxwell has to save vacation time from their employment to be able to attend this slimeballs trial to be sure that justice is served.

Was his family there?

His 2 Public Defenders are with the Homicide Division in Baltimore. They will see this case to the end and it will be far from here.

My first thought was Alleghany or Garrett...I may be mistaken, but I think they are more conservative than some other counties and would be more inclined to give him death?

this slimeball should have a public hangin at wicomico co circuit court plaza.so we all see this bastard twitch and have convultions ,gasping for his last breath.then have his parents pick up his carcass and dispose of it. maybe throw to the sharks or lions and tigers.

I like 8:44's idea. I have another good one, arrange for him to be cellmates w/Dr. Earl Bradley from DE first and let them abuse one another for awhile to see how it feels. They are both cut from the same cloth. His ultimate judge will be God and I hope Leggs gets the death penalty then burns in Hell for eternity!
Prayers going out to all Sarah's family members. RIP Sarah!

We need to save the taxpayers money, just let us handle his sentence. He has no rights!! We all know, however that he will go to prison. I just hope that when he goes to prison awaiting death, that the inmates find out what he did. There's an inmate code...child molesters and child killers are to be killed if at all possible. These guys don't play around! I hope that he dies a slow, painful death!

They will seg him from day one, he will never be in Gen-Pop.
