House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that Arizona’s new immigration enforcement law was “inconsistent” with American legal traditions and civil liberties. Hoyer said that such active enforcement policies should not be included in upcoming federal immigration reform.
“I think that the law that was passed was a law that is very inconsistent with our past practices in America where we don’t go around asking people for I.D. cards,” Hoyer said at his weekly press briefing.
Hoyer said that he favored “comprehensive” reform of the nation’s immigration system, saying that such reform must include a secure border and comprehensive reform.
“We need to keep the borders secure,” Hoyer said. “We cannot have porous borders. We cannot have people coming into the United States of America when they’re not authorized to do so. We can’t do that from a national security standpoint and we can’t do that from a public policy standpoint [either].
“In part what the people of Arizona are saying is that the Feds haven’t done their job. I think they’re right, the Feds haven’t done their job,” he said.

Why don't they just make it a felony to hire illegal aliens? That's what I don't understand.
Why dont people here boycott the businesses that hire the illegals, WHY DONT YOU PEOPLE DO THAT?
Take a look at the school projects around town, take a translater with you.
If they would start massively fining the large businesses who hire illegals, say, first time $5.000 per illegal, second time $10,000 per illegal, third time, we seize your business and you go to jail, I bet that would end quite a bit of the hiring of illegals and they would no longer have a reason to keep coming over here.
Another one that I would like to see is a change to what makes you a citizen in this country.
You can't just come over here and drop a baby and it automatically be a citizen. At least ONE of the parents HAS to be a citizen of the United States in order for the baby to be a natural citizen! This would stop so many coming over here to have their kid on OUR tax dollars!
We don't ask for ID cards? I've been asked to display one every time I've had a traffic stop. Every time anyone is questioned they must produce ID. This law is no different. If you belong here, then no worries. If not, then...you don't belong here. This does not make Arizona a police state, but a state that enforces its laws.

If they fined every employer around here that hired illegals just to save a buck on payroll all the large nurseries would be out of business. Building contractors would be out of business. One of the bigger nurseries hires illegals and work release people just to keep their field labor cost down. These contractors and landscapers are the worst around here. They hire one legal to hire the illegals as sub contractors. He's called a broker. I thought human brokering was illegal?
