i don't want people to judge greg brittingham by reading this report. yes he made a mistake but he was not trying to kill the police officer. the attempted murder charge is a little harsh. he is a great person who is going through a lot of things right now. not saying that is a excuse for drinking and driving. he is like a brother to me. i would trust him with my family anytime. there have been a lot of us who have gotten behind the wheel of a car after having just one drink, including myself. he was not trying to kill the cop like news makes it out to be. people make mistakes and i hope that his true friends dont judge him by what has happened and help him get help. all i ask is for people to keep him in your prayers. i am in law enforcement also and know the cops put there lifes in harms way everyday. i have the up most respect for law enforcement.

12:44 as soon as i read the attempted murder charge i thought that was stupid, i know why they charged him with it but come on its just that when the cops have a hard time getn thier man and if thier car gets damaged then all the sudden its attempted murder on a police officer most of the time so what makes that anymore special than when an innocent civilian gets hit by someone running from the police its rarely called attempted murder -thats what i dont get and i also have plenty of respect for LE

When someone rams their car into someone else's car (whether it is a police vehicle or not), that is attempted murder. Their vehicle is a potential murder weapon. Sorry if this is a friend of yours, but if he did do what is alleged, the charges are appropriate.

I personally am shocked by this whole incident, I too know Greg and could never imagine him doing anything to hurt anyone!!! He came from a wonderful and loving family.I am not taking up for him what he did was very wrong, and he does need to pay the concequences for his actions, but attempted murder is a bit harsh!!!! I too have the upmost respect for our law enforcement and know they put their lives on the line every day for our protection, but I truly don't believe he was trying to hurt (let alone) kill the officer. I'm sure Greg was scared and being under the influence didn't help with his judgement call. I can't imagine what his family is going through at this time but my thoughts and prayers are with all of them at this very difficult time.

so the standard of justice should swing on whether or not you know a person? How many times have we heard neighbors on the news express how *shocked* they are by a criminal's crimes, often violent? Whether you know this guy or not means zero.

im just glad that no one was injured during the incident. a few feet one way or another and it could have been avoided or could have been much worse than a damaged police car and pickup truck. and attempted murder is not a charge that is just thown around because it looks good on paper, its a serious offense and no one but the person that is charged with that will know the real truth about the "attempt"
