A Message From The Governor

Healthcare for 32 Million More

This morning, I joined President Obama following the signing of landmark healthcare reform legislation that will provide health care to 32 million more Americans.Under the President's leadership, our nation will finally begin to control the rising cost of healthcare in America, improve the ability of all Americans to take their children to a doctor, and put the American people back in control of their healthcare decisions. And finally, for every American family, insurance companies will not be able to deny anyone healthcare coverage due to a pre-existing condition. These national reforms will build on our efforts over the last three years to expand access to healthcare for 161,000 more Marylanders, including 78,500 children, and at the same time save Maryland taxpayers and small businesses the hidden costs of uncompensated care.

Because of the reforms we have already put in place in our state – things like the Maryland Health Insurance Partnership for small businesses and closing the prescription drug donut hole for our seniors – these federal reforms will save our state more than $1 billion over the next ten years.

And to make sure Maryland is doing all that it can to effectively implement these reforms, tomorrow I will be announcing the creation of new task force to make sure we maximize healthcare access and affordability for all Marylanders.

Find out more about how the federal reforms impact your family.
Martin O'MalleyGovernor

For Americans? I think NOT! Mr. Governor, all I can say is, I doubt anyone will vote for you next year. Also, the citizens of the United States did not want your "Obamacare" to begin with. All you are doing is influencing the lazy and do nothing people to abuse the system. I think you should rethink your decision to create a task force- wasting more taxpaayers money, and again this new healthcare system will fail.

To say this will only help the lazy, only shows your ignorance!! There are a lot of hard working American people, who still can not afford health care. If it is between paying high premiums for health insurance or buying food for your family, or heating your house...which do you think the hard working, but barely able to get by American will do. If you were the American who has never been able to afford health care, you have NO idea what this bill means to them. I don't see people raising as much stink over all the unemployment being handed out. Or the welfare lines that are growing. There are lazy people taking advantage of far worse things that could save the tax payers money. Lets focus on that for awhile and let all Americans be able to have good health insurance.

You are next, Mr. Governor!! The election is coming and all who wanted Obamacare will GO!!

why don't you do something about the rising of the gasoline prices and make it more affordable for americans to purchase gasoline and not have to make a choice between putting gas in the car to get to work or putting food on the table???

No one should believe what O'Malley has to say about this. He is an Obama supporter. I would ask him why many other states have filed suit over this because they can't afford it? Why is Maryland any different? Even is it did save the state money, the people are going to be paying more and receiving less benefits. Obama, O'Malley, Kratovil, they all lie.

So what makes you think I have to pay for YOUR health care or anyone elses "who can not afford health care." This is coming at a cost to all of the hard working people in America. My health care costs are rising because I have to pay for YOUR health care. I am strapped and I live from pay check to pay check and I don't get to take my children to Busch Gardens or Kings Dominion because I can't afford it. I can't take my kids to the boardwalk in Ocean City because I can't afford it. If I take them I am forced to buy the overpriced food and overpriced rides out of guilt. I can't even afford to go to the tanning bed now because that is going to be taxed to pay for YOUR health care. That bill is the final nail in the coffin for America's downfall.

9:19 AM,

I just went to WaWa this morning and gas was $2.89 gal. WTF!! You can't tell me that the federal government can't control the price of gas. It was the Democrats that pulled the plug regulating energy.

Why has the price of gas been fluctuating 15 to 20 cents a day for the last 6 months?

I will take that as a no go for our governor to tell the attorney general to file suit against the gov.

Just another reason to raise taxes with all these unfunded mandates. Thank the Teachers Unions and Labor Unions.

AG Gansler is not interested in any crimes committed by democrats. He wasn't at all interested in the Acorn case, Sheriff Jones case, James L. Henderson case, etc. He certainly will not participate in any health care suit against king Obama. They protect each other, case closed.

i was watching T V last night and the A/G from Nebraska was on saying just the people added to medicaid would add roughly 2 billion dollars to that states budget. He said the states cannot afford this unfunded mandate.

I guess Gansler and O'Malley must have found Obamas stash to pay for Marylands unfunded mandate, or maybe another tax increase is on the horizon.

I'm sorry Mr. Governor, I will help to vote you out this year!! I will not support anyone who agrees with this healthcare reform crap!!
In order for us to get affordable health care we will have to give up most of what we have worked for and drop down to poverty level. We may be able to get health insurance now for pre-existing issues but at what cost? They will price it so high we can't afford the availablity. Nice joke on the American people. Hope you have a plan B for your future Mr. Governor, because it will not continue in politics.

So because of your selfishness of wanting healthy care you will be putting MORE people in jeopardy of losing their homes and being able to put food on their tables because now they will have to pay for YOUR health care. Be responsible for youself. I'm tired of taking care of others. Find a different job that offers health care.

As much as I wish you all were right, you've lost your collective minds. We live in a liberal a$$ed state. There are enough dumbocrap votes in the densely populated areas around Baltimore City, Baltimore, PG and Montgomery counties to carry an election for Owe'Malley. Like the rest of the U.S., more AREAS may want republicans, but the areas that don't carry the majority of the votes. Good luck in November!
