America: The only country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, our elderly going without needed meds, and mentally ill without treatment - yet we have benefits for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents, clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.
Imagine if we gave ourselves the same support that we gave all other countries. I feel bad for them, but who cares about America ?

Been saying that for years. Take care of America first!

Even less people care about America after having George W. in the White House making even more enemies for us!
It'll take us 50 years to repair the damage done!
Now, we find ourselves in a position where our government feels we HAVE to help to make us look better.
Keep our money HERE! We're already spending more everywhere else than we are in our own country.
People want to scream about federal deficits but they conveniently forget WHY the deficit continues to climb.
There are MANY reasons but the biggest TWO are Afghanistan and Iraq!
America has a proud tradition of helping beleagured people around the world. We must continue this to maintain our moral integrity.
However, when endeavor to help our own, it is often derided as "socialsm," "nanny state," "welfare," etc. Commenters on this blog have even begrudged poor school children their reduced price lunch. This is especially ignorant as the Federal School Lunch Program is part of the Dept of Agriculture. It was designed to help farmers by buying their surplus. Thereby keeping prices up.

I have always said that too! There should not be one homeless person, one hungry person, one person without proper medical care, one older person deciding whether to buy food or their medicine, oh the list could go on and on! Take care of home first!!!
what the hell are you guys talking about? On one hand the US gov. has been taking over by socialist who have created the nanny state that wants to provide cradle to grave resources for everyone. On the other hand the gov. doesn't do anything for you. Which is it people?
Should I point out that a huge chunk of your taxes are going directly towards social security, medicaid, and medicare. I think this atleast covers the children, elderly, and ill, don't you think.
I agree that we should place more importance on things here at home. I don't think that it is quite accurate to say that either Obama or Satan is responsible. And his 'ugly wife'...not sure how that is relevant either. This is not a new issue but a lot of people just have a new target in Obama. I would ask everyone how much time do they spend volunteering in their own communities or donating to local organizations. Charity does start at home...in each of our living rooms.

Obama donated..One Hundred Million Dollars...without a BLINK! And our wood products are deleted...thus..increase in cost of construction and renovation for our citizens....and once the Hatians reach our Hospitals....guess who must do the long-term care in Florida

As long as America loves flaunting her charity around the world a few, thankfully few, narrow-minded isolationists will have soemthing to whine about.
