an overwhelming number of people have never heard of the guy. Another pampered, sense-of-entitlement, spoiled "actor" overdoses----zzzzzzzzzzz. yawn. what's newsworthy about that? You have missionaries risking their lives and help/aid workers going to the Haiti and Chile's of the world to give humanitarian help and they perish yet we know nothing about them. We have brave men and women giving the ultimate sacrifice serving in our military but some "hollywood type" gets this kind of publicity?????WTF is wrong here?

It is sad he died but like so many child stars it wasn't unexpected. It's horrible kids are pushed into the lime light and into an adult lifestyle just so mom and dad can make a buck.

Publicizing it (& other recent celebrity drug overdoses) might help illustrate how insane it is to put that poison in your system. You never know where it will end for you.

Unknown what type of medication??? "Cocaine is a hell of a drug" - Rick James.

up-yours 10:21! I can remember my daughters having a crush on him when they were younger. As for your missinaries & humanitaries going to Haiti & Chile, maybe, they should try helping out in the USA!

12:01 way to go!!!! I agree with you. Even if I didnt know someone who died and heard about it...i would never be like zzzzz yawn. How ignorant of you. Maybe someone will say that of you or one of your family members. 12:01....some people just have nothing better to do then to cry on the blog because thier life is so miserable there is nothing more for them to do. Way to stand up and say something. I totally agree

12:01 a young girl having a crush on a "star" is nothing new and probably harmless. However when on OBSESSES over a "personality" then I have a problem with that. The media obsesses over anyone even remoted connected to hollywood as if they were so damn important, it warrents front page coverage - which is what CNN and others did. The sacrifices of those working overseas OR here in this country get ignored and that is a damn shame. I still hear and read references to Kurt Cobain as if it was some sort of mythical leader who unfortunately perished. Bullsh--. Suicide and drug induced lifestyles that end tragically are NOT newsworthy. A bunch of damn wackos.

What do you mean," an overwhelming number of people have never even heard of the guy"? I am pushing 40 and Corey Haim starred in the "Twilight" of my generation-"The Lost Boys". He was a brilliant young actor who fell into the hell of addiction and it killed him. That doesnt make him special, but it also does not negate his impact on 1980's films and pop culture.

What a shame.

He was a talented boy and man.

Joe, when something like this happens, why are your commenters so hateful?

To them I say, "There but for the grace of God go your children." Drugs are one of the easiest things for young people to get involved with, even innocently, and some are so addictive from the start.

I don't condone it and certainly don't think anyone committing a theft or violent crime to get more should be excused.

But heavens to Betsy, so many people think it can't happen to them or their families, yet I know good parents of nice, smart kids who OD'd and died.

RIP, Corey Haim and my condolences to your family.

I think each and every drug related death of any celebrity should be publicized. Too many people, especially the youth of today have an attitude of invincibility about drugs and they think that it's just other people that let things get out of control. It needs to be known that no matter how much money you have or who you are, any drug abuse can take you out at anytime.
