The conventional wisdom is that Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD) faces an uphill battle for re-election. Maryland Sen. Andy Harris (R-7) is formally announcing his candidacy tomorrow. Partially to pre-empt Harris’ announcement and partially to get an early start in leading cheers for their favorite boy, the Daily Times has fired off a few articles and a glowing op-ed to let us all know that “Blue Dog Frank” is INDEPENDENT and he’s facing a tough road to re-election (the game of lower expectations).
Bending the truth is easy over at the Daily Times. Expect plenty more between now and November.

The scary truth is that politicians even convince themselves that they are telling the truth.
So it's okay for you to express your opinion on anything political, Mr. Harrision, but it's not okay for the opinion page of a local newspaper to do so? Please help me to understand how someone else's opinion is somehow wrong or incorrect when compared with yours. Honest to God, you sound like an absolute blowhard on this one.

'Ehrlich for Governor?'
Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., for Governor? That question is posed not by Maryland's Republican former governor, but by the Democratic current governor in a dispatch e-mailed today.
Gov. Martin O'Malley's campaign is employing "The Ehrlich Factor" as a money-raising tactic, saying it's important to bulk up its coffers just in case. Ehrlich served a four-year term and lost to O'Malley in 2006. He has been publicly toying with the idea of a rematch on his radio show and elsewhere but has yet to announce an official decision.
Here are the opening lines of the O'Malley campaign e-mail:
"Robert Ehrlich claims he still doesn't know whether he'll run for governor next year.
But there's one thing he does know for sure: he's got plenty of friends ready to bankroll his campaign."
The e-mail goes on to quote from a Nov. 19 Maryland Politics blog entry by Paul West, in which Ehlrich says he could raise $10 million to $12 million, despite the poor economy.
O'Malley, like all Maryland lawmakers, can't accept campaign donations during the 90-day legislative session that begins Jan. 13, which is among the GOP's "pretty significant built-in advantages," the e-mail notes.
It's easy to wonder whether the media are the only ones pondering a rematch between Ehrlich and O'Malley. But today's e-mail shows that the governor himself is similarly intrigued.
Here's who else is in the gubernatorial race queue:
* One of Ehrlich's former cabinet members, Lawrence J. Hogan Jr.
* Baltimore County Republican Del. Patrick L. McDonough
* On the Democratic side, former delegate (who also served in Ehrlich's cabinet) George W. Owings III (He confirmed through his Facebook "fan" page that he'll be officially announcing his run at a rally Jan. 6 in Prince Frederick.)
* Libertarian candidate Susan Gaztañaga (You can read about her in this marylandreporter.com post.)
Any body other than O'Malley, Kratovil and Mikulski. They are all libs and seem to be determined to spend us into oblivion.
The guy votes against health care reform, the jobs bill, and all the omnibus spending bills, all because they're unpopular in his district, and you folks don't like him for it? He's representing us when he does that. That's what a representative does. Kratovil is doing a great job for this district and I hope he keeps acting steady when every liberal wants him to move left and every conservative wants him to move right. I want a Congressman with brains and a steady hand during these times.
Andy Harris is one of the best candidates ever to run. His values of 2nd Amendment rights and fiscal conservatism represent the Shore. And, he writes Bills.
Frank is toast. He lied and voted with the obamacrats unless it was a voted where his vote did not matter. Bye, bye Frankie.

Did you actually read the accompanying piece? I stated that I love a vigorous op-ed page whether I agree with it or not. The point of the two posts was two fold:
1. It was awful ironic that the DT decided to run their "We Love Frank" op-ed AND "NEWS" just before Harris' announcement.
2. Their op-ed made claims that were false (not a matter of opinion) and even contradicted by their own reporter in Sunday's piece.
While I appreciate criticism, I prefer it from people who actually READ what I have written.

I stated why he voted against ObamaCare and the "Jobs" bill. That's not thinking; that's representation by fear of saving one's political skin.
I assume you agree with his votes on PORKULUS and Cap & Tax. As for ObamaCare, he voted for the HUGE SCHIP expansion (which as the precursor to ObamaCare) and then voted for the "Doctor Fix" which was need to help cook the books on ObamaCare.
That's thinking? That's a "steady hand"? That's simply pandering.
