This is ridiculous! In broad daylight- where is Salisbury's finest? - Oh, they must have just left from their midday coffee break......

Here we go again! Everyone's excuse in previous months is that is was coming up to Christmas. What's the excuse now?

It's ridiculous to think the police will be there at the same time a robbery went down like everyone else you have a false sense of security . Until the average citizen steps up like they did on the attempted airline attack this will only continue !

Lots of good things going on in Salisbury too though Joe. I guess you had to wait until 2 in the afternoon to put up your first real post of the day for something you think is newsworthy.

People be realistic. The SPD can not be everywhere. Do not be haters.

Well, police can't be everywhere and everyday citizen out there could help some by paying attention better to their surroundings and what is going on and try to get descriptions, tag numbers, etc. and report the same to the police. Everyone in this townshould know that this stuff is happening, so help the police a little bit and report what you see instead of looking the other way saying I don't want to get involved.

I'm surprised it didn't happen last week when the law enforcement community was searching for Sarah Foxwell. Those criminals missed a good opportunity. Of course, these criminals are not the smartest of citizens, either.

1:59 you're an ass! How on earth are the 6 cops working and patrolling hundreds of businesses and residential areas going to prevent a robbery that happens ANYWHERE in the 12 sq mile area?

Anonymous said...

How embarrassing. You can see the court house from that location.

Anonymous said...

Its just not safe to go anywhere anymore. What is happening????

Anonymous said...

Here we go.....

Anonymous said...

Now the Bank of Delmarva has been robbed too........if you want my opinion, the gangs are creeping up into our area, this is all part of it most likely.

one subject in custody

1:59: I guess you must think police should stay at every convenient store in town, or maybe think they have psychic powers and should automatically know when/where a robbery is and be there at the exact time to stop it

Anonymous said...

Maybe they screwed up this time and the Police can catch them! Sure like to see it be the murderous thugs from the Shell Station get caught!

Anonymous said...

NO..... really? Seems to be the latest fad! WTF is up with law enforcement... I say have your own weapon waiting for their A$$es... fight back & this S@#% will eventually come to a stop! They are getting away with these crimes scott free & they will never be caught. What else can you do?

Anonymous said...

what kind of jackassed comment the police cannot be everywhere at the same time and they dont have powers to see where and when a criminal is gonna strike next

Anonymous said...

SPD is everywhere other than where crime is mostly going to happen.

Anonymous said...

Holy Crap! I was sitting at that traffic light at that time. NOW THIS IS STARTING TO AFFECT ME! WE NEED TO GET A HANDLE ON THIS BEFORE IT'S PAST THE POINT OF NO RETURN!

Anonymous said...

1:59 grow up... I would like to see you work the roads of Salisbury with maybe, if you are lucky, 3 or 4 other officers! Can't be everywhere at once!

On another note it seems these robbers have a heart! The best time for them to have committed these crimes is when all he** broke loose and the cops were looking for Sarah... they didn't come out!

Anonymous said...

Brilliant comment 1:59. Have you ever thought of an education ?

Anonymous said...

Give the SPD a break. They can't be everywhere all the time and an armed robbery takes less than a minute to pull off and at least a couple of minutes to report.

Anonymous said...

Well i am selling my house and getting out of here this spring if things dont STOP....

Anonymous said...

These thugs know this is Maryland best place to commit an armed robbery because his victim is not armed because he is a law obeying citizen and left his guns at home. Start shooting some of these worthless thugs and save us all some money.

Get rid of 70 % of the rental properties in Salisbury and the crime rate might slow down.

Hey 2:09 number 2
I hope Joe kicks your A##
You are an IDIOT

Anonymous said...

I would love to sell my house and get out of here but my house has dropped over 80,000 dollars since I bought it three years ago so I am not going anywhere, unfortunately.

2:16 i totally agree, the police can't be EVERYWHERE at all times. They do the best they can. Everyone, as a community, needs to be more aware of their surroundings and report things when they see things that seem suspicious.

Anonymous said...

4:54, maybe they should get more officers then, huh??

Come on Guys and Gals! Stop and think for a minute.I have a good approximation but won't say what that approximation is how many Troopers,Deputies, and SPD Offciers work on any given shift in a 24 Hr.period. The Day Shift for all require their appearances in Court, handling various complaints,in their respective Headquarters doing reports, and the list goes on and on.Further there are those on the road in various areas of the County doing routine patrols, its not unusual to have 6 or 7 Troopers and Deputies collectively scattered all over the county, they simply can't be everywhere.
If for example I'm in the Barrack doing paperwork, which I hated, but nontheless it had to be done,I had no clue what was going on unless I was advised of it so I could respond. If an Officer is in Willards and gets a Bank Robbery call to Bank of America on Tilghman Road all the Emergency Lights and Police Package Cars made will not get me there in time to catch this criminal in the act.In that same vein neither could a SPD Officer get from the South end of Salisbury to the same Bank.
Now just allow me to digress alittle.
I remember when there were 2 Troopers to work Night Patrol(Midnight to 8)in Wicomico-Worcester AND Somerset Counties. There were only 2 deputies in Wicomico County on that shift and none in the other 2
counties. Now that was yesterday and this is today, you would be shocked to know that the manpower shortages within all the agencies TODAY isn't good, it's better, but still far short of what they need.
So far as the robberies are concerned, I think, although I haven't personally seen them, the statics of an arrest while in the act of an armed robbery is very low, anywhere.
Aggressive investigation, citizen involvement ( information )an community policing (patrols) and additional manpower would do well, additionally I think some specialized undercover prevention methods could be used.I think personally that police manpower in all agencies hasn't grown to stay in line with the growing businesses, population, and crime.
For the naysayers, give Ivan Barkley a break,he hasn't been in Office for a month,he's got a job on his hands to get his Agency rebuilt from the destruction of the last regime.Make no mistake,I have no doubt whatsoever all the Agencies will come together as they did in the Sarah Foxwell case to get back the streets. They read this Blog as well and when they see comments left such as the one left by 6:27PM it bothers them because it is their community too and their wives, girlfriends, and family go shopping in Salisbury.Good aggressive debate is always useful, but keep it on the positive side.

I've lived here 37 of my 44 years. Sadly, I've reached the point of no return. Salisbury was a nice town in the 70's and 80's. Small town with small town values. We have lost our way. Our citizens are apathetic and no one in our leadership is going to help us find our way back. It's time to leave.

Get off SPD's ass, they are doing the best they can with the few they have to work with. They are not the only cops in town. Even with all the LEO's in Salisbury/Wicomico county they can't be everywhere all the time.

BTW...SPD had a suspect in custody soon after the Bank of Delmarva robbery. How about giving them credit for that or is that to much like right?

Anonymous said...

2:09, If you can do better go for it. You seem to know or want to know what is going on, so tell tell us what you know or get out there and put in as many hours as Mr. A. has to give us the up to date news. Now, 4:38 DAH, would you rob a place with the police in there? map

Anonymous said...

7:52..you too? same deal on this end. exact same amount too. wtf?

Anonymous said...

Cheers for 7:59 p.m.!

Bingo!

Give Ivan Barkley a chance is right. Finally we will have someone who will work with Sheriff Lewis instead of protecting his own vanity.

Refreshing!

the police have caught these people many times before they became bank robbers but the judges have let them go many times. look at their long records when they are caught. i know a city cop and she is fed up with arresting the same people over & over. blame the judges

Anonymous said...

I have to agree w/10:10pm. Slaps on the wrist by judges is breeding these thugs! And drugs are a big part of the cause too! They need to get tough on these deadbeat drug users! How do they think they are getting money to feed their expensive habits? And they certainly aren't paying child support either! I feel bad for the police out there risking their lives and taking slack when they are doing their jobs getting them arrested and showing up in court! What can be done about these liberal bleeding heart judges?? Maybe they would change their tunes if something were to happen to their family!

Anonymous said...

Salisbury is gettin bad!!!! We might as well move to the city.

Anonymous said...

Its a community effort to make the community better. Give these people a job. It is extremely hard for men to get jobs around here with criminal backgrounds. I mean dang what is the justice system for if we are going to still hold them accountable for past actions. Oh and how do you rob a bank without brandishing a weapon? And if a weapon was exposed who is going to attempt to attack this person?

Myself and others have been saying this forever. Crime isn't going to stop if they keep getting released back to the streets.
