There is a female Chesapeake Bay retriever at the Worcester County Animal Control facility in Snow Hill, 6207 Timmons Road, that needs a good home. She was found about a week ago near Girdletree and the owners have yet to claim her. The staff at Paws and Claws in West Ocean City believes the dog is between 1 and 2 years old, and says she is very mild-mannered and very friendly. Please, if this is your dog or if you are interested in giving this dog a home, contact Animal Control at 410-632-1340 or call Paws and Claws at 410-213-7490.
FYI: Worcester County Animal Control DOES euthanize animals …

OMG!! let me talk to my husband; because I would go get the dog right now!!!!!!!!!
It would be nice if the information that is in regards to this dog was correct. For instance, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever is an 11 month old female that was not found any where near Girdletree. And even though Worcester County Animal Control euthanizes animals it requires the animal to either be in poor health, extremely aggressive or at the request of the animals owner.
joe was just trying to help. this exact information was posted on Facebook by someone close to paws n claws. thanks for providing additional information. since you seem to be more in the know, could you provide the location the dog was found so the owner may be possibly located?
It would be nice to have the Worcester County Animal Control have a website with the pics of the animals that can be adopted..then everyone can see what is available and save an animal that was once abandoned or abused...
The dog also has found a permanaent home should they need to put it down. I volunteered to take her if they had no one to adopt her last week. Since she is very adoptable, I will probably not wind up with her, but as a member of the American Chesapeake Club, we do look out for them. ;)
I got my last dog Maxx there. He was already house trained and I could throw the ball, however he wouldn't retrieve it until I told him to "Go."
Maxx had tumors in his colon and had to be put to sleep about 3 months ago. I'm close to ready for another pound hound, I've always had good luck.
How about just taking a trip to your local shelter if you are concerned or wanting a pet. As for for where the dog was found so that its owner can get the animal back I ask you this one simple question. If you are missing your pet, who should you call ? Animal control !
Tim I'm sorry about Maxx, I know how special he was
I adopted an 8 year old "chessie" from a humane society (location withheld) and she is an absolute perfect girl. Why anyone would give up such a loving dog after 8 years ill never know. I'm glad I was given the opportunity to give her a great life in her senior years.
dogs can travel for miles 7:41. that dog could be from another county. also, considering the fact that I personally called and asked the animal control about the dog and they said it had a contract on it, yet it did not, i would say they are not too reliable.
i adopted an akita from the humane society. Why on earth anyone didnt search high and low for this dog is beyond me. someone must really have been missing this dog. The most mild mannered, submissive (to humans) and loyal dog. hardly ever barks and obeys commands well. I hit the lottery with her. Too bad she isnt a woman or she would be the perfect wife.
UPDATE AS OF 9:30AM ON THURSDAY::: The Chesapeake has been adopted by a family of four in Worcester County.
