Home Invasion On Riverside Drive

Sorry to add salt to today's wound but there was also a Home invasion on Riverside Drive (IN THE CITY) near the medical center around 6:00 PM today.

RIVERSIDE DRIVE Folks! Crime is falling into areas no one would expect and if you were at last nights meeting and listened to all of the different stories even I was unaware of you would have been completely shocked.

10 years has been enough. It's time for some new leadership or a change in attitude.

Lock and Load! Time to take a few of these scum bag S.O.B.'s out and ask questions after it's done. Come on Folks it's gonna take us the citizens to put an end to this crap by protecting what we've worked so hard for. The only way to send a clear message at this point is pump some hot molten lead in in these thugs and not think twice about it.

I'm in TOTAL agreement Joe. I too have recently become a victim of the rising crime rate in this town. I reside off of Monticello Avenue (what was once considered a safe part of town). My vehicle was broken into.My wallet and checkbook were stolen. The culprit was able to write checks, in my name, for over $1350, was videotaped at the local bank and left his ID at the bank as well and yet was never apprehended. This occurred back in May. Just recently, in October, my vehicle was stolen right out of my driveway and taken for a joyride and subsequently totaled by another individual. I was born and raised here and am quite honestly very sad to see how far this neighborhood has declined.

Its time Mr Webster, I would start writing my first drafts. Some of us LOVE this place, you treat it like a punch line to a joke. Save yourself the damn humiliation.

All of Salisbury is being consumed by the criminal element. Where will it all end?

People,
Start shooting these SOBs , get a gun, you have to protect yourself.
Kill a few and maybe they will think twice. I have prayed for someone to break into my home , it's called , set the example.

Mike, I highly suggest you leave the area to have a better quality of life. I, too was a victim of the local crime here and this was after living 20+ years in a very large midwestern city. After 1 year on the shore I became a victim, which is pathetic considering the smaller population here compared to the supposed "big bad city" that I came from. Most of the local ppl here are only familiar with what is available here, both good and bad. If you have ever lived anywhere else you'll quickly realize how sh!tty nearly everything here is. Aside from the scenery at the beach, Assateague and some of the historic homes there isnt much else here thats worth it. Crime is past the point of epidemic and nothing has yet to be done about any of it. There are numerous unsolved violent crimes and the city council or the community has done little to nothing to aid in any type of fix. From what Ive seen here(being an outsider) their is a HUGE amount of denial locally. Ppl who have never lived anywhere else and are very quick to wave flags about how great things are here and why the shore is the best at this and that are the same ppl that have ZERO perspective about life anywhere else. Ppl at my workplace visit this site and talk about how horrible it is that this kind of stuff is published about city leaders. These local ppl arent used to accountability(they're lazy) and the more I hear what they say the more I realize how small their minds are. WBOC and all the other news media outlets here cover up crime and continue the local ignorance theme. My best suggestion is to move, trust me, there are so many nice places in this beautiful country to live that are leaps and bounds better than the shore. If you've never lived anywhere else you cant say anything is "the best" because you are only familiar with one place.

Born and raised here (in the 50's). The prison and some of the come-heres have ruined the lower shore. And now a plan for a federal prison? We used to be a laid-back agricultural region...now look at what greedy developers and bankers have made of it! Just retired and planning to move out of state!

8:11, please tell me how the come heres have ruined the shore when the locally ran govt officials are all local ppl? Problems with crime have been going on for years and nothing was done to stop the bleeding. Retired ppl moving here are hardly the problem. I dont blame you for moving but point the finger at the true problem, the locally ran good ol boy govt with a huge amount of nepotism and favoritism added in.

what happenend at waverly and ohio ave last week. Lots of police in the evening. never saw any press releases. is it a cover up?

Prisoners from the states largest prison are not released here unless they have family and a plan that keeps them here. Get you head out of the sand. The prison has provided many jobs. Perhaps if the city and surroundng areas weren't being built up so quickly with little forethought on infrastructure and the likes this would not have happened. Inmates and former inmates do not want to live near their place of incarceration. Slow the growth, plan it, mold it, control it. Get a grip on EVERYTHING ELSE that is going on around you. ARM YOURSELF. Give police the funding and the manpower they need. Get (or accept) help from other agencies when it's needed. TAKE BACK THE STREETS AND SHOW THEM WHO'S BOSS!

I live on Monticello and y car was broken into a few weeks ago. Thankfully I did not have anything of great value other than som cd's. I'm not surprised that crime is moving up on that side of town. It is a nice are and I am sure that people think that they will be able to steal better stuff/more money. I do agree with some of what 7:35 said. The Eastern Shore does not seem to have a whole hell of a lot going for it other than potential.

The problem is the gangs have been run out of the big city's and have moved to small city's and brought big city trouble .

yeah i think disgusted is the word, if we heard all the stories, please report them instead of hiding all that goes on, some people are clueless and think salisbury is a safe area, those are the people i'm scared for, and our children instead of reporting these stupid officials that argue like highschool girls, or the daily health report inform us. is'nt knowledge and communication the key to everything? oh and guns.

Salisbury is a joke!

4:43 you are so right. The DT is a gossip rag more concerned about spats than crime. Policechief is the same.
