Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took his GOP-blasting rhetoric to a new level Monday, comparing Republicans who oppose health care reform to lawmakers who clung to the institution of slavery more than a century ago.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took his GOP-blasting rhetoric to a new level Monday, comparing Republicans who oppose health care reform to lawmakers who clung to the institution of slavery more than a century ago.
The Nevada Democrat, in a sweeping set of accusations on the Senate floor, also compared health care foes to those who opposed women's suffrage and the civil rights movement -- even though it was Sen. Strom Thurmond, then a Democrat, who unsuccessfully tried to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and it was Republicans who led the charge against slavery.

Reid is an idiot!!! I don't know what else to say.
Forcing people into and making them pay for a health care plan that nobody wants is closer to slavery.

I was wondering when the Dems / Liberals were going to interject the Race card. These policies being pushed are the same reasoning as the slave owners mentality. Control Control Control. What an IDIOT. He does not even know American / World history since slavery was a global issue and still is in parts of the world.
Mr. Reid should brush up on his history. I believe it was the Democrats who clung to slavery a hundred & fifty years ago. Now they are trying to make the working class, the well educated and the talented persons of America the slaves of those who won't work.
Mr. Reid is MUCH closer to Marx than Lincoln. Save America vote Republican!
